Just added a set of Wolo 415-MC horns to the fat girl.  Hit the horn two times while the bike was nt running (ignition switch on - obviously) and it sucked the life right out of the battery.... I hit the ignition and all the lights went out.  (10 amp fuse went so I replaced it with a 20 am (as specified int he instructions).

Got a boost and rode the bike home, but the headlight would not come on.  High beam comes on if I flip the switch and all other lights work.

Checked all the fuses and they're all good....

Right now I have the battery charging.

Anything I should be looking for that is not obvious?

I installed the relay based on the 2-wire horn instructions on the Wolo horn manual here http://www.wolo-mfg.com/415-mc%20english.pdf

Except that I have the neg direct to the battery.

Well, it may just be a weak battery that was getting ready to fail anyway?

I suspect either your hi/lo beam switch is acting up or the low beam filament in your headlight bulb is blown.  Neither cleaning up the switch nor replacing the bulb would be a waste even if the other was the problem.

Did you use the relay and wire according to instructions?

I'd say you got something screwed up in the wiring.

This happened right after you installed the horn.

I'd disconnect it and see what happens, then go from there.

At the shop, we always ask the customer what was the last item(s) worked on recently.

99 out of 100 times that is where we find the problem.

Recent example, Dodge Dakota V6 with a intermittent no start.

Customer said the last thing worked on was the transmission about 6 months ago.  We almost went on by due to the time period.    But Grump as I'm called at the shop told the Tech to check around the transmission.     He came in the office, pulled down the wiring schematic for the truck.    He commented there is no damn orange/black wire in this diagram.       Son came in and said that he found the problem.    The orange wire had rubbed the cross member and rubbed through the wire coating.   The black in it was corrosion from the copper wire.    Rubbed it clean, protected it and the thing started.    Back in the air and we replaced the wire from the fuse box to the transmission.    Sent it down the road, that was 3 months ago.   So look around your horn for a mis-wire, or a shorted wire.

UPDATE:

The battery was a goner.  Went to Sears and bought a DieHard AGM Gold.  Filled it, charged it and the fat girl came to life.... Headlight low beam still not coming on, though, I think I'll replace that tomorrow.

PS:  The horns are LOUD!!!

Thanks everyone for your input.

Just wanted to share what they look like:

Going to make a nice custom plate to attach to the bracket.
