Get on it and RIDE!!

Hardwick NJ

« on: January 29, 2012, 05:36:24 AM »

We started out behind the house and followed the stream that runs through our property

We went about 2 miles following the stream and these are some of the pics i took along the way.

We walk about 1/2 mile on the road behind the that is a dead end and ends up at 2 pieces of land that is owned some rich people that live in the NYC and don't come around to often huge pieces of land i might add,i met them one day and they gave us permission to walk up on their property to this waterfall.

We walked up along side the falls and came to this suspension bridge.

Somebody doesn't like their pic being taken!

This shot is looking off that bridge

A little further up we came across this tree if you look closely the root on the left is huge and looks like part of the rock all covered with moss

a little further up we came across this

caught her again

So to all that think NJ is just crappy cities i beg to differ!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great stuff Robin,  Would love to see a pic of the Valk on that bridge

If you look at a map most stuff north and west of 287 gets into hills and higher elevations

Here in the Hudson Valley we are of course north of 287 and the whole area
going past Bonzo both north and south and even east into Connectcut is some
sweet country.  The Taconic Parkway (no trucks allowed, they should do that for the dragon)
is a 50-55 limit and thats just fine as you want to see the deer, wild turkeys and such while you can do something about it  Colors in late October this year was sweet indeed

Ask those who have gotten my tour (Hay, HG & FB, Dag,  we can ride mile after mile and just see another
MC every once in a while and more lakes, streams and curves than you would imagine

Got to do a ride your way soon Robin, set one up and I will be there

Maybe I will set up a ride here in 2013 if there is interest  Hopefully the roads that were washed out from Irene will all be open by then  My favorites 106 and the cliff road and even perkins are still closed
last time I rode by there

A similar sized creek runs along the back of our property, but it is boring
compared to your creek... after it leaves our property, it gets real wide and there's
a lot of rocks and wild azalea and laurel, real nice in the spring...

My not-so-smart upstream neighbor thought he could make a bridge by tossing
a pipe in the water and covering it with dirt and rocks...

A couple of months after it washed out, we had some real rain, I came
home from Church one Wednesday night, there was a tornado alert,
and I heard a sound like a train down in the woods... it was the pipe
being washed 100 yards through the woods by a flash flood, banging
against trees  2funny

That's SOME "backyard" that you have there !

I would've NEVER imagined anything so picturesque in NJ.

But, Have you tested the stream for Hazardous waste ?  Evil

......very cool Robin. ..Im thinkn by the scenery that you live up in North Jersey where some of the land is oh so fine. .....its been my experience that people who arent familiar with New Jersey think along the lines of Joe,s thoughts...concrete n steel...or the opening credits to the Sopranos...shot in Newark...what they dont realize is there are a lot of places like where you live ...some of the finest and most expensive horse farms in the country are in NJ. .....Faith and I are lucky enough to have a State Park a few miles down the road from us, as well as a lot more incredible examples of Mother Nature,s handy work. ...and we go exploring often..

...nice pics.....thanks for posting..   cooldude

Great pics, Robin. Ya know, before getting my first Interstate, there were a LOT of states that I'd never been to. Now 11 yrs later, there aren't many states I haven't been to. Similar to what you are saying about people's misconceptions of NJ, I also never realized how much our great country had to offer. I've been so impressed by many states that I had never visited previous to having the Valks; Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, New Hampshire, Tennessee, Michigan..and on and on.

It seems that the Valkyrie gives us such a great opportunity to be in tune with nature again..out on the open road. It's nice that we have that appreciation and don't take it for granted.
