The ememy commander just told his aid to go to the local sporting goods store and get the 4473 forms to get the description of weapons of private ownership. I forgot how real this could be. Could be our government next getting our records like after Katrina...just sayin'...

Sounding the alarm about such a scenario is just the reason John Milius put that scene into his classic documentary Red Dawn... The collection of form 4473's could easily be used by an enemy whom wanted to round up gun owners, be that enemy foreign or domestic. Which is why many people are so adamant about only buying guns face to face through paperwork less transactions, in states where that practice is still legal. (And why so many of us gun nuts are fighting so hard to shoot down any law that would close the so-called "gun show loophole" that the gun grabbers love to parade out as "common sense" gun control.)

I'm shocked to learn that our government actually did try to
confiscate everyone's guns after Katrina. Apparently there was one
older lady that got roughed up when she wouldn't give
up her daddy's old revolver. People from the dry
side of town sitting on the curb, hands zip-tied
behind their backs, as the guns they were using to
protect themselves from looters were taken from
their houses.
To be fair, the National Guard soldiers and the rank-and-file
police have to follow orders (you know, up to a point of course)
and the majority of the Government (from Bush down to the
Governor and more I'm sure) were disgusted by it, and steps
were taken (laws made) to prevent it from happening again.
Also be aware that there's a class of folks who will accuse you
of living in la-la land for believing that you might have to
protect yourself from the government if the you-know-what
hits the fan... even though such an outrageous example
just happened in front of our faces...
