So I look on parts finche and it only shows you have to buy the whole casing. I call shenanigans. Has anyone found a replacement for the starter switch. I have pulled the switch twice now and this last time, it was not that dirty. Assuming the spring under the contact is getting weak, any body have luck changing out the spring?
Been looking at different switches, but thought I would ask for expert advice before I spend another 3 days searching.

Just what is it doing...or not doing? Is it affecting your lights when you hit the starter?

Thanks Hook, read the article, but mine were not melted to the housing. I really suspect the spring under the floating contact. I cleaned and di-electric greased the contacts, worked great Monday night, but this afternoon, had to push it several times before the starter engaged. Yes the lights go out when depressed, just like they are supposed to. Don't seem dim when running either.

GL- Try stretching the spring no more than 1/8 inch. I did that with mine the last time I fixed it and it works great. A lot cheaper and faster too.

My starter switch was working intermittently too. When I checked it I found this. I cleaned it up and re-soldered it and it has been working fine since.

Pinwall has them but there is no guarantee they are 100%.

Ouch F6Banger, mine doesn't look that bad. I have a lot of old momentary switches sitting in a box, I may see if one has a spring I can retro-fit. I actually stretched the spring back in July. I was just hoping someone had found one that would mostly fit as a replacement. In my internet search, I have not found a small one that had a good enough rating for the starter position. Though I am not even sure what the amp rating I should be looking for. Any body know the draw of the starter solenoid?
