Have you not got the shop manual?

Dag has one for download

And the best part is that it's free!

I have a manual. I have read how to do it. I just cant get to it. Im gonna try to unscrew the sensor from the center cover. That looks easier.

The couple of times I have had my center cover off, I have unscrewed the bank sensor from the cover.  It wasn't easy, but I was able to get it with a short screwdriver.  I would remove the closest screw first and flip the sensor over, which allowed me to move the cover in order to gain access to the other screw.  (And no, I do not have little hands.)

Wow, I finally got it. Chrome is nice but a PITA when you have to pull it all off.

Just to remove the center cover, I had to lift the tank, pull  chrome engine hangers, chrome tranny covers(both sided to get to the spacers form the left side hanger.) Angry  I have pulled car engines faster than this.

I had a straight shot at the boot from under the bike (I/S). I couldnt get my hands between the battery box and the frame, and I was scare to tug on it hard enough to pull it up and through. Seemed impossible to get the cover off or back in without it rubbing one of the starter bolts so I taped it up before I removed it. Fun stuff...

I hate the center cover.

Don't put the sensor back on upside down, or you'll get to take
the center cover off twice  tickedoff  cooldude
