vaporlock progress report any new ideals ????

i put dan shut off valve in worked off the acc. plug it turns off with the key. pull the carbs man were they full of rusty(gritty) in the float bowls cleaned them out real good. Did not go into a complete rebuild bike was running fine before.
My pingel valve was bad i got the 1311chv it was leaking so i just converted it to free flow. this should work with the electric shut off. yeah i know pingel didn't last me no longer than OEM .
with that said and done it still was not correct it flooded one of my cylinders on the left side again.
Now what???? this time i checked the float needle after i pulled the bank again. with the carbs turned upside down i forced air in the fuel line and no air would go through. this does not tell me it working ok.
after checking the float seat it seemed to go in ok, but the float would hit the metal in the upper before going to rest on the seat that little spring in there works ok the seat should stop the floats before it hits bottom sorta like putting pressure on the rubber part to form a good seat.
so i ordered 6 new float needles there no adjustment. just one step i know that will be right now.
my other thought is that i have a fouled plug or plugs from the leak before gas being pumped in the cylinders with no fire. that could cause a fuel lock again the fuel is running out the pipes on the ground around the first bleeder hole the the pipes. there might be a bad spark or no spark.
now thinking about sending my pingel back for a rebuild kit they will rebuild mine for 22.00 that includes shipping back to me by fixing my pingel back to vacumm it would be good for a couple more yrs then with the electric shut off as a back up that should be the gas problem
i have a weak battery i have one on order from amazon that could be some of it also. to many things now could be causing this
i found a easy way to remove the carb rack with out fighting anything will go over this in another post and i did find the float needle seats for 6.00 total out the door 44.00 there on there way will post that link also

Sounds like you've got the problems pretty well fixed. Except possibly the root cause.
The failed Pingle and the gritty stuff in the fuel bowls are both the likely result of rust in the gas tank.
You can check it out with an inspecton mirror and flashlight, but the rust is surely there. The aluminum carbs or chrome plated brass Pingle didn't generate the rust.
I'd suggest cleaning the tank and maybe coating it with epoxy if it's real bad. Check Caswell Plating's web site. Are you using a screen on your Pingle?
I had the same problem. Tank cleaning, epoxy and a fuel filter fixed me up. The petcock screen will not stop all rust but it's better for the petcock than no screen.

I would do the needles as well as the seats for the float needles. Also put a inline filter to the carbs and for the inside of the gas tank I believe you can use por 15 really good stuff and strong. I have seen some filters that all they are is a screen and you can by screening from other company's that the holes are down to 5 or less microns well beyond what most filters are capable of and replace the screen that the one was made of. This will give you a very effective filter.

The residue you find in the float bowls being red does not necessarily indicate it's rust. That is simply a conclusion that can not be born out without more inspection.
More likely what you find is an amalgam with a resultant red color; and gritty being a visual observation is very subjective leading to inaccurate remedies.
If you were to recover and dry all the foreign matter you find in the float bowls a better appraisal could be the result.
The main problem encountered with the stock petcock is the vacuum operation within the petcock.
Replacing the stock petcock with another vacuum operated petcock seems to be encouraging that same outcome.
If one were to attempt to solve that problem, once and for all, while keeping the vacuum function of the petcock I would suggest the addition of a small plenum and a snubber into the system would be a permanent resolution to the problem.

well i looked over the tank no rust that i could see. i am beginning to think a bad tank of gas. there is allot of specks or dirt what gets in there but no rust after i took out the petcock again there were particles on the screen i just cleaned it dirty already i just don't feel the tank other than dirty going to try to put 2 filters on the fuel lines after the t probably the 33035 or wix 33027 depending on how big i want to put the napa one if can not get wix 33035 i think that is the number lower micron rating is what i'm looking for. remember i am not working so cheap is for me
