Today, I checked an overhead projector out of the library at work. It was nearly 70 and sunny, so I decided to strap it to the backseat and head home. Luckily, I recently bought a new bungee net. Unfortunately, I recently bought a new bungee net, so I had to stand in the parking lot trying to stretch it out a bit to make it work.

When I made it home, my wife and I used it to project a stencil onto a wall in the room we're redoing. So, now we've traced off the mural and started on the base coat.  Well used.

Recently the battery in my Toyota Sequoia went bad. The only mode of transportation I had available to me was the Valk. I rode it to Walmart, bought a battery and strapped it to the luggage rack. Rode just fine all the way home but got some silly stares at stop lights.  laugh

When riding to the shop for a new darkside on the supervalk, I have to wear the Goodyear around my waist.  I don't think it's odd, but almost everyone else does.

I have expanded a bit in my old age, but a 205 16 60 still fits.   2funny

Last summer I bought a used motorcycle lift from a fella about 75 miles from here.  Hung it over the passenger backrest and had it strapped down on the rack...Just told everyone I was traveling prepared.

I like to put batteries into a cardboard box on the luggage rack when I'm carrying them.

Tires I put around the sissy bar and throw a bungee net over. I've never tried to wear one.

Many years ago, I mean MANY, I was on my 305 Super Hawk and needed to pick up a 50# bag of cement. Sat on back of bike and rack. Did wheelies at evey light until I learned to feather clutch.
Just one of the dumb things I did on that 305. But, I wish I still owned it. Cry

I bought a 56 Chevy pick up in 1973. 35 miles away fron home. A friend of mine and aI towed it to my house with his 305 Honda dream. We got pulled over in every town/city from Costa Mesa to Garden Grove Ca. The cops didnt have a problem with us, they just couldnt believe we were doing it. It took 8 hours or so and we had to pull over to let the clutch cool off a couple of times.
Lets see the Mural.

Ok this is going to sound stupid and I don't mean to steal a thread but, I golf 4 or 5 times a week and I would like to ride to the course. Been looking for some kind of device to mount on the back to carry the golf clubs. would want the lights and plate to still show.

Anyone got any ideas?

I ride a tourer with OEM hard bags

It would also seem that you could mount a trailer hitch, then get one of those small flat racks people use for coolers, and adapt from there.  Extra taillights on the golf bag may be necessary.

On a bike trip to Bar Harbor a few years ago and coming back through New York.... I was leading and just happened to guide the group to Utica and the F X Matt Brewery....... Love their Beer..... Utica Club, U C light, Maximus Super ( don't know if they even make these anymore!)

Managed to get 7 cases home (cans) - got 4 cases strapped to the wing and got the other 3 on 3 other riders bikes.... Only 500 miles or so... On bikes already loaded for a 10 day trip.

Bet I could still do it on the I/S..... Might have to dump any dirty clothes though,

Brad

The mural is a dark grey tree with colorful leaves. We've finally put enough coats on the tree itself to call it finished. Now we're working on the leaves. I've layered the blues enough in the middle, but my wife needs to build up around the edges to make nice sharp lines. The green my wife bought turned out more yellow than intended so back to the store we'll head.

I'll post a pic when it is done.

I'm just happy the white walls went away. I like my walls more colorful. So a colorful set of leaves will be a welcome addition.

Still working on finishing the second bedroom. I tried to reuse the curtain rods that were in the room. The old curtains were thin sheers and the new curtains that I made have more heft. One of the rods didn't fit well enough to hold the newer curtains so it fell.

After work, I called my wife to double check the dimensions then dropped by the local Lowes to snag a new cheap but longer curtain rod. It seemed easy enough. I picked up a 50" curtain rod, paid for it, walked out to the Valk and then thought about how to carry it home. Strapping it to the back rest seemed like a fine option but time consuming. Instead, I stuck it down the back of my jacket and rode home. That was faster, but that was a mistake. The rod stuck up behind my head which was annoying but not terribly problematic.

The wind catching the cardboard sleeve and trying to pull it back was problematic because it kept tightening the neck of my jacket against my throat.

Luckily, I lived. Next time I'll tie it like an antenna to the sissy bar.

i bought a bunch of 6' stainless steel rod to make a bar-b-Q grill from a local steel shop.  went to pick it up and it was in a long cardboard tube.  i had a roll of electrical tape in my saddle bag, taped one end to my front right footpeg, and the other to the trunk rail.  worked fine, had to ride about 4 miles, made it alright....

I carried this projector the other day.

We used it to add an art piece to the corner of the room. We went back over the leaves with darker blue and green, but otherwise it looks like this. The leaves now match the colors in the curtains.

My wife picked out fabric from Ikea and I whipped them into curtains. I still need to add tie-backs. Since this pic I have changed out the curtain rods so it would hang nicer but this should give you the idea.

We've lived in this bedroom for five years but we're finally making it the room we want it to be.

Oddest thing I've carried on the Valk was the head of a buck deer netted to the passenger seat which I took to a taxidermist about 40 miles from here. I had a plastic bag under the head to protect the seat since I had just killed the deer.

The taxidermist who was an American Indian (now dead) lived at the end of a long gravel lane on top of a hill. When I pulled up on the scooter there were chickens pecking at skinned coyotes laying outside the door. (I was surprised, usually nothing eats coyotes) And several guys were hanging around a pickup piled with deer 20 yards away staring at me and wondering what the hell I was doing there in my black leather jacket. As I started to step off the bike one of them started to tell me I must be at the wrong place, then he saw the deer head and smiled.   I don't think I was very welcome until then. Grin

THIS is what happens when you go to the store on the way home from work and conveniently forgot I was on the bike!!!   There are $90 worth of groceries in those bags.  Cheesy

Sorry for the blurry cell phone picture, but you get the idea.
P.S.  The trunk and saddle bags are crammed full too.

I do this every Wednesday to go play hockey!
Not even any bungee cords!

Back when I had a CB900C I went to Target to look at computer desks.  Bought one, with a hutch, and strapped 'em on the back seat of the 900.  I took up a full lane, for sure, but made it to the apartment just fine!  ;-)

the double saddle bags are my idea

im not saying that no one else thought of it first, just that i came up with it myself

i would rather be in sneekers than boots but we NEED boots, so i keep boots in extra bag

other one holds extra winter clothes/ what ever extra stuff i need held till i can mail it home

if you rode for months straight you would bring the kitchen sink

i dont even notice them anymore they look much bulkier than they feel

Loaded up for Hurricane Charley a few years ago! Heh heh!

Mike, why didn't you think of that on our first trip to InZane in Paducah. That was a hot trip, eh bud?

At every gas stop, Mike would go in the restroom and soak his Coolvest in cold water and put it on immediately. Then walk out to the bike leaving a trail of water all through the store, he never bothered to squeeze the excess out. Then as we're riding down the highway, I'd see water flying off the back and it kept hitting my windshield. Aah, the good times.  cooldude
