2000 I/S over 100K and I've been through some tires. I'm late into a cold night, 600 mi from home approaching Paducah and I'm feeling a shimmy in my front end. I pull off, get under the bike and check every inch of my tires...nothing. I finish my trip, tear down the front end, replace the fork seals (needed this) and new progressives. I check everything I can think of, strap it back together and....shimmy's still there. I'm only 1/2 way through my Avon cobra on the rear, but it looks like I have exessive cupping. I've used a lot of Avons and I like'em, so I order another, change it out and....shimmy's gone. The cupping on the rear tire was my problem. From what you guy's have written I'm convinced I'm running my pressure too low, 35-36. Thoughts?

on the too low.. tires will last much longer and wear far better at the higher pressures. I ran a minimum of 38 front and 41 rear, and still do with a double darkside set up.

Hey Evie , when I first bought my Valk , I went by the Good Honda Book and ran 33 lbs on the front and 36 on the rear , low and behold I cupped out a perfectly new front tire ... later I learned thru the VRCC Tech Board to run 40 lbs front and 42 lbs on the rear and my new tires wore alot better , imagine that ... In the summer I run 38 lbs because it will heat up to 40 lbs. and in the winter I run 40 lbs ... now I have a C/T on the rear it has 26,000 + miles and still looks like new .... Thanks the Geezer

I too learned this the hard way. I now am the proud owner of a Avon Cobra with 3K miles on it that sits in my attic as a last resort spare...
