I put my notice in today at work that I would be retiring on 1 July. I made up my mind when they said I could'nt have the Inzane week off. I'm getting to the age that I don't want to miss anymore fun and being with all of you at a gathering, ridding my Bike, is about as funnist as it gets. This coming year I plan to make as many rides as I can afford. I have 58,000 miles on the bike and in a big hurry to get to the 100,000 mile mark. By the end of next year the back of my bluejeans will look like a pair of old cowboy pants with the saddle sore patches on the bottom side and proud to have them.

Have a soooper doooper year and after July 1 hope to see many of you Gray heads out there on many rides.

cooldude cooldude  Congratulations Tom. I know you are looking forward to being retired. Hope to still see you around since you won't be at the store anymore after the first. Maybe we can get together and ride some. I think I gave you my phone number, but if not let me know and I will get it to you. I have yours. Again, CONGRATS. Hope I get to do that one of these days.

I retired just last year on Oct 27th. Did my time at Texas Eastman Chemical plant in Longview,Texas. 30 years and it was time to go. I was only 55 when I did it!!! No regrets, haven't looked back. Wish I could have done this years ago!! Sold my place in Texas and moved to northern Arkansas. Roads here were made for motorcycles!!!!  It will be the best thing you have ever done for yourself.  crazy2

I think I have about 24 years left. Although you never can tell how the HR department is counting these things.

I got forever left too.  Unless one hits the lottery.  I am 40.   I'd like to retire when I am 55 or so... but, I don't see it happening without something major happening.

Way to go, Santa.

I bought my Valk after retiring and told the wife I wanted to hit at least the lower 48 states and put at least 10000 miles on the Valk every year for the next five years.  Told her I wasn't getting any younger and wanted to ride while I could.

Doing well so far.  Bought the Valk 23 months ago and have put on 38,688 miles so far.

Hope to see you again at Inzane.

Congrats on your decision!!  I have 4 yrs to go, I will be 55 yrs old.  My father took a buy out at age 60 and died at 65. If he hadn't went early he would have never retired. I am tired of living my life at the whim of someone else. Enjoy your Summer bro ..............

Congradulations and enjoy...I retired at 54.6 yrs with 25 years service doing what I loved. I could have stayed untill 60 yrs old, but I bit the bullet and walked. I left alot of $$$ on the table by bailing early, but I have never looked back and I've doubled to tripled my bike riding and did a dream trip, two up on the Valk around the USA and Canada for appx 8600 + miles as well as other things......You will love it... cooldude

Your going to be SO SORRY YOU DID THIS.  When you retire you never get a day off.  Just day after day of doing anything you want to.  It's just so much work to find fun things to fill all those hours.  Your going to love it!!

As the rest said, good for you! I turn 63 this Friday and am planning on retiring some time this year. Won't be able to draw the max social security, but I've had enough. Wife is younger, works, and carries the insurance.  Looking forward to the free time to ride and projects.

Congratulations Santa,  & welcome to the retirement club.  I just retired on March 16th this year and bought a 2000 Interstate for my retirement present on March 17.  I have already put 5000+ miles on it and haven't taken any long trips on it yet (due to the weather) other than riding it home from El Paso to Kansas City.

I also plan on covering all of the lower 48 states in the next couple of years.  Starting next month to Washington & Oregon.  Hope to make Inzane on the way back and then on to the east coast in August.

Hope to see you on the road.

The only time I look at my watch now is to see what day it is!!!

They told me at work I couldn't have the time off for inzane, I told them I was going anyway, they could call it vacation or retirement, which ever they want.  They granted vacation, kinda wish it had been retirement!  cooldude hoser
