Has anyone had any experence with a lamanar lip on an I/S windshield. As of now I have tried two other windshields (higher, wider, etc.) and various helmets and still get enough buffiting to blur my vision and give me a headache. I have only had this bike 4 mos and am totally dissapointed with it because of this. I have been riding motorcycles for at least 50 yrs and have 6 other bikes, but this is the first one with a windshield ( I bought it to take a cross country trip this summer and wanted more comfort) am I expecting to much. Any help would be greatly appreceated.

Do you have lowers on your bike?  I noticed that I was getting A LOT of wind over the top of the tank and up my body.  When I put my lowers on, that pretty much went away.

Joe,

This is due to the Bakers you have on. I have the same set up on mine. I installed the Bakers late in the fall and went for a few rides. I was very disapointed, as it was acting just as if I had made a 6 inches hole in my windshield. I later installed the fork deflectors and the problem went away. You've just got to have the fork deflectors if you install the Bakers on an Interstate. IMHO.

Yes, lower fork deflectors and Baker Air Wings and you can have a nice still air atmosphere in the driver's seat. cooldude

I'm 6'4" , With the Ultimate Big boy seat. It's not the wind coming around the side, it's the wind coming over the top thats beating me up.

You might also investigate MRA Vario Windshields. They have a similar product but it is adjustable.

I have a 98 Standard Valk with both the Baker Wings and Fork Deflectors. These do a very good job of stopping the airflow from rushing up my chest. However, I have my Memphis Shades windshield cut at a level that allows me to look over it (which I prefer). In order to stop the head buffetting, I purchased a Laminar Lip. The Lip functions exactly as advertised - It re-directs the airflow coming over the windshield upwards about 5 to 6 inches. I find it does just what I was looking for. And, because my wife is relatively short, her head does not reach much higher than mine when we are both sitting upright on the bike. She also does not get any head buffetting with the Lip installed. We're both happy campers with the Lip.  Smiley

I have a Tourer, so this won't apply directly, but...

When I had an OEM windshield, I could ride around with my faceshield open
and be comfortable...

After I got a four inch shorter windshield, there was way too much buffeting to  ride comfortably
with the faceshield up, but with the faceshield down, everything is smooth as glass...

So... what I'm saying is that your helmet choice might help... I guess, though, that some
folks would rather not ride than be closed up in a full face helmet, but I grew up on a
dirt bike and feel at home inside there...

I have a 98 Tourer w/ stock windshield. A few years ago I put on a Laminar lip... it made a big difference in the buffeting.  Now that I've had it a few years, I sort of forgot what it's like without. Sometimes I still get buffeting at the top of my head and I complain...then I take off the lip and it's way worse.

I also have Baker wings...they help alot, but sometimes you have to adjust them.  Riding behind mini-vans and most SUVs there is so much turbulence, I don't think anything would help.

With a Laminar, you can adjust it a little - it's attached with a plastic-type velcro-

I guess the bottom line is,  a Laminar lip WILL help, but it won't fix everything.  It has everything to do with how tall your windshield is to start with and what type of air deflectors you have on your lowers and how much air they push up to your windshield....
