Once my bike is fully warmed up my clutch is...grabby...best way I can describe it. Starting from a stop as I release the clutch handle it grabs all at once at a certain point. I don't notice it while shifting through the gears or releasing the clutch while rolling, just from a start and only when the bike is warmed up. It doesn't slip at all. Rotella T6. It's not a major issue yet, just wondering what to look for. Fluid is a year old.

Hope this makes sense...

Gracias

At what point does it start to grab??

It should be fully released (disengaged) when pulled in only about 1/2 to 3/4 inch (measured at end of lever).  If much farther than that, you may have air in the fluid.

Only reason a say this is because I got air in my Magna clutch fluid and it felt like the clutch was grabbing all at once.  It wasn't in reality... but since it was far closer than expected, it seemed very sudden.

It's a shot in the dark... maybe someone else can give you a better answer.

Its disengaging at about the distance you're saying. Its grabbing at about the same point. Its just that when it does engage it grabs suddenly and jerky, whereas before its always been pretty smooth. Hard for me to put into words. Hope it makes sense...

Gonna bleed it tomorrow night to rule that out. Fluid is nearly a year old and has 12k on it. My problems seem to always come in 3's  Smiley

I would also look at putting in a new master cylinder rebuild kit.  Fluid could be slipping past and engaging the clutch.  Hold the clutch down when it is in gear for about 30 seconds to see if the clutch engages at all.  If it does then you need a new kit.  Not hard to change, can be a real pain to bleed afterwards though.  You may have some crud in the master as well that is affecting the rubber seal in the master.

Got the bike with 31.6k. Had a gallon of M1 4T at home so I put that in when I got it home. Then M1 15-50. Just put my 2nd fill of Rotella T6 in a couple weeks ago.

A wet clutch can be very sensitive to the oil being employed.

I'd suggest changing to a different oil type as a possible cure.

Clutch never tried to engage while doing this. I bled the system last night. No garbage in the master cylinder, and the fluid that came out looked ok.

I would go with the change of the Clutch Cylinder Kit.  That happened with mine and since I changed the Kit... Sweet.  My two cents.

Looks like I'll give the master cylinder rebuild kit a shot. Is it possible that the problem might also/or be with the slave cylinder? I can order both kits if the slave could cause the same problem. Is it possible that the clutch itself could cause the problem?  Prime riding season is right around the corner and I don't mind replacing the whole lot if it'll cure the problem.

I'm starting to get an occasional squawk at take off and downshifts. No slipping. No problem finding neutral. No problem with pull on the lever.

If your going to open the system why not do both. New fluid would give you many years of service.

I did get a leak at the shifter seal after switching to T6. I'll give an oil change a sbot before I rebuild the MC, but I can say that I didn't have any problems clutchwise for ~ 3k after swapping.

+1 on both.  I use M1  15/50 too
