I'm about to jump into replacing my clutch on a 1999 Interstate with 80,000 + miles. I have reviewed the archive posts but have a few questions yet.

It is typical to have to replace the clutch basket?
Local Honda dealer quoted me $370 for a Honda kit that includes metal & fiber plates, gasket, and spring. Is this a bit high?
Is there a Barnett kit that has metal & fiber plates, gasket, and spring?

As long as I'm in there should I replace anything else?

I think I have enough stuff laying around that I can fabricate a spring compressor and other special tools.

Unless you had a catastrophic clutch failure there should be no reason to replace the basket, I always use OEM cluch parts.
