about a week ago I was put on electronic logs, paper logs you have wiggle room to adjust your time and it at least looks legal. E-logs when your out of time, your done park it son!

there's going to be a long steep learning curve for this company, not just the drivers have to get accustomed to the restrictive nature of E-logs the load planners and dispatchers too. I went to a customer to pick up and sat for 4 1/2 hours waiting for it to be ready while my 14 hour clock is ticking away. 1225 miles equals two drive sessions of 613.5 miles each (in a perfect world, what they pay you and what the actual distance is are two different numbers) any kind of delays mean the load needs to be handed off to another driver.

I got 577 miles the first day and 666.6 the next (yeah I know creepy) I was going to be 30 minutes shy of making it to the customer and swapped off to the next dude he was perturbed. he said you can't make it another 42 miles?
I said nope I have 20 minutes left on my clock, I'm on E-logs.

I've driven to every customer this company has sent me to (including Newark NJ) and made every short delivery time they've asked me to (Brandon FL to Rapid City SD in basically 2 days)
with a smile on my lips and a song in my heart, I've never told me dispatcher that he's working me too hard. just chaffs my rear end a little to be thought less of by my fellow driver, of course he'll be singing a different tune when he gets on E-logs. Shocked

Kinda ironic one of the big freight companies with a hub near me (Werner Enterprises, blue trucks) has billboards up trying to recruit drivers, and that they have E-Logs listed as a FEATURE as to why a driver would WANT to work for them...

Guess they didn't get the memo that drivers hate the things! Wink

My company went to e-logs last year.  Man, what a waste.  I haul hazmat in tankers.  It's funny when they want me to hurry and just tell them its their fault cuz they went e-logs.  If I go over hours trying to get back to the yard, I just type in "Could not find safe haven for hazmat  residue.  All truck stops are either full or have a 15 minute idling law.  Had to come back to yard for safe haven"  Gets me out of it sometimes.   Grin

I don't know anything about e-logs, so forgive this question... When you have wait time like that at a p/u or del., is it not possible to tell the computer that you're off duty or sleeping?

How bout running 2 or 3 e-logs...? Grin

works like this you have a 14 hour clock in which to do all your driving(11 hours). so like I did I started my clock on the way to the shipper and was burning my 14 clock sitting there until all I had left was about 5-6 hours to drive.  you want to be very careful when you start your 14 so as not to waste your time.

I did my time at Weiner  (werner) was NOT looking to go back to E-logs. I might try going to a micro company, one that doesn't even have qualcomm  cooldude
