I was down in Nogales today for a load of tomatoes on the way in I saw one of the warehouses had 3 flag poles in front. on the left was the American flag on the right was the Mexican flag I think the one in the middle was the AZ state flag. all were the same level.

shouldn't the American flag be in the middle and be higher?

and another thing do you think our national anthem sounds 'hokey' to folks in other nations the way their anthems sound hokey to us?  or is it just me  uglystupid2  never mind probably just me 2funny

I think if the poles are equal the US flag is supposed to be in the middle and
highest, also 1st raised.

This is for foreign flags on US soil.

IT should also be the largest flag if possible

I will check in Court to see if the US flag is always a smidgeon higher than the NYS flag or NYC flag

Nope, same size and height if on a separate pole. However, if on the same pole the US flag should be highest.

During the Dearborn Memorial Day parade three years ago the chidren of  the "Lebanese Cultural Society" marched with large Lebanese flags with smaller American flags below them on the same pole.

When I saw that I was pissed and turned to my father-in-law (a Korean war vet) and asked if he also thought that was direspectful. He told me to lower my voice and look around. We were surrounded by middle-eastern people and they were all cheering and hooting.

I could not stay and watch the parade any longer, so I packed up and left. Later that day we all met at my in-laws for a BBQ and brought up the flag incident again. My father-in-law said that it was wrong but it is the sign of the times here in this area and losing your cool will not change anything but raise your blood pressure.

I called the citys parade commission about the lower/smaller American flags on the same poles and was told that I was told that others have also complained.

Now the "Lebanese Cultural Society" is no longer allowed to participate in the Memorial Day parade.

I'm always disappointed by the number of tattered US flags I see. The end will be all shredded up. Also see alot of US flags flying at night without being lit. This is wrong as well.

Thank You George for standing your ground on this issue. I agree 1000%. Sometimes, an issue is just too important to just "let it be".

May I recommend you listen to Johnny Cash's "Ragged Old Flag"?

My flags (US and Texas) fly 24/7.  It took me years of searching for a light I liked before I bought a flagpole - the light comes on automatically at dusk and turns off after dawn.  The flags may be unlit during a power failure, though.

I've replaced my flags twice since the pole was installed about 18 months ago.  Our Coastal Texas winds have been rough on them.  The first flags removed were delivered to the local Boy Scout chapter for burning.  The second set is waiting for an opportunity to get hold of the Scoutmaster again.  The third set is "extra heavy duty" and we have hopes that they will last a bit longer.  They, too, will be replaced when they begin to tatter.

I'd like to see the burning ceremony one day.  The scoutmaster explained that before burning the flags are deconstructed, and each stripe and the field are burned separately as part of the ceremony.  He said that the biggest problem now is that the flags are so flame retardant that they're getting to be impossible to burn.

There was a family down the road from me who had a flag hanging union up from a pole next to his mailbox. The colony bars were shredding and the entire flag was faded. I couldn't take it anymore so I printed a copy of the code, highlighted the "violations" (and the code is ultimately only a set of suggestions) and put it in his mailbox. To his credit the flag was changed out the next day and they haven't left it out at night since. Some people just need to be educated about that kind of thing I guess.
