Been working on sitting up a feed for the riders for Sat. June 9th ride . Been a good day . I got us hooked up with a Dr. Hunley of the church in Pocahonas Va and he is also over the food bank . We set it up for his group to have a country feed prepared for us at the community building "the old highschool" His group routinely feeds groups smaller than us and much larger than us so I am sure that our service and quality of food will be very good . This feed will benefit the local food bank that supplies food to the elderly and the needy. The price will be very friendly as well . Told him that I would like for the menu to be such as they would have for their Sunday meal for friends and family.

Those of you who made last years Hillbilly Hwy Ride know about the feast Wolf had waiting for us at the State Park, he made the arrangements with a local 4-H club who with the help of their parents prepared a homemade feast for us that will be hard to top.....I called Ron the other day to see if he'd like to join us on the scouting ride, I mentioned that we needed to find a place to eat and how hard it would be to top last years meal...and that I really hated to see people ride from all over the country and have to eat at a Ryan's or Hamburger joint that's also available down the street from there own house... I'd rather see them try local food and the money go to the community rather then to some large corporation...without being asked, he went to work on finding us a place to eat, have a new experience with the local people and the money spent will go to a food bank to feed the elderly and needy, can't ask for anything better then that...above and beyond Ron, my hats off to you and thanks for making this a better ride and experience for all of us... Eric from Md. is also contributing he's working on a T-shirt for the ride..as he did last year too....no one is making a profit here they contribute so all of us can enjoy ourselves and each other and share the one thing that makes us compatiable "Riding" My thanks to all that make this ride and rides like it happen.

Any idea of possible schedule as to roads of travel, times of possible meet ups with other riders along the way, has the scouting ride been made yet,? Trying to get several riders interested in coming. I am so excited as I once worked in the area for 6 years and will be fun to visit the area. Lots of railroad stories of incidents and accidents along Rt. 16 and US 52. Magnificient territory and wonderful caring people who help each other.

Gabby...we haven't made the scouting ride yet, probably sometime in March...but I live here in Tazewell County and have a pretty good idea of the route...we'll leave Marion, Va. at 9 am and ride rte 16 pass Hungry Mother State Park into Tazewell, we'll be stopping at a gas station just as you come down the mt. called Thompson Valley. From there we'll continue on 16 all the way to Welch, W.Va. from there we'll cut across to Pocahontas, Va. to the old mine exhibition, there we will have lunch. Then on to US 52 to Big Walker Mt. to Blacklick Rd. to US 11 and back to the hotel...somewhere around 170 round trip...all the routes are not covered but thats the general plan...hope you can make, as you know that is some great country with a lot history behind it...we'll see ya there...
