Interesting but highly doubt this is why motorcycles aren't seen. Quote, According to Michael Bach, "Steady fixation favours disappearance, blinks or gaze shifts induce reappearance. All in all reminiscent of the Troxler effect, but stronger and more resistant to residual eye movements."

Someone looking both ways before turning is a gaze shift which according to this induces REAPPEARANCE
