HERE IS THE REAL SCOOPEvery year i have this problem with the Hotel....eh....Employees. BUT THIS YEAR IS WORSE, as they have had lots of turnover...and the new employees....SEEM TO BE COMING FROM A VERY LIMITED GENE POOL???????????????
Ok.....for you folks who don't know better. Every year, Talladega does NOT announce the dates of NEXT year's race....ENGRAVED IN STONE....for some time. BUT....eveyrone knows it is one of a couple of weekends. FOR NEXT YEAR, the
GUESSES by the race crowd were either 23-25 April....OR....30 April - 2 May. SO....when they LEAVE THE HOTEL FROM THE LAST RACE (in THIS case, we are talking about when they left on Sunday, 26 April)....they will typically TRY TO BOOK TWO WEEKENDS of dates they THINK MAY....MAY...be race weekend NEXT YEAR.
so, when they left THIS year on Sunday (26 April), many booked BOTH 23-25 April AND 30 April - 2 May next year...to "cover their bases". So the Hotel....eh......Employees (i'm trying real hard to be nice and not call them what i'd LIKE to....)....started telling anyone who would listen.....
THAT RACE WEEKEND IS PROBABLY 30 April - 2 MayBut, they were wrong. Turns out, as MOST OF US WITH GRAY MATTER UP TOP THOUGHT, race weekend is.....................................................TENTATIVELY.........................23-25 April, 2010. DON'T BELIEVE ME? So, there you have it. SOONER OR LATER...the fine folks up top WILL get a clue.....and they'll realize race weekend IS INDEED 23-25 April, 2010 next year, and that is why HALF the race crowd (or more most likely) reserved/booked THAT weekend, and a handful of others...booked OUR weekend....30 April - 2 May.
So since many of you booked the 30 April - 2 May dates (before you left up top this year), the misguided folks up top now keep saying "that's race weekend, ya' can't book that"....when YOU folks call and try to reserve something now.
SO, FOR THE LAST TIME...........the dates for Cheaha next year are .....tentatively.....30 April - 2 May 2010. THE ONLY WAY THIS CHANGES, IS IF THE RACE DATES CHANGE. Not very likely.......
So when you call, and the .....eh...............nice folks up top feed you that garbage, NOW YOU KNOW BETTER. INSIST ON GETTING A ROOM 30 April-2 May. IF THEY CLAIM THERE ARE NONE, INSIST ON GOING ON A WAITING LIST.
Cause sooner or later, just like every year, they'll realize they are ...................eh....................wrong.............and get a clue.
AGAIN...so it's clear.....clear beyond a shadow of a doubt;
