I live in Ohio and I'd say we have an average climate.  What would you suggest the proper oil weight should be.  I see so many different weights talked about in here but I am sure it depends on where you live.    Any suggestions ??

Thanks

Honda recommends 10w-40 for most temp ranges that these monsters are operated in..

I have used Rotella 5W-40 synthetic and now use Amsoil 10W-40 synthetic in Ohio and many other States.

Temps from 25° up to over 100°... never a problem with either.

I use Mobil 1 15-50 heavy duty in Kansas, My bike is kept in a heated garage in the winter.  It has started well down to 20 degrees F while parked outside though.  Almost 100K miles and no problem so far. Hoser  Smiley

Thanks everybody.  I want to go with the synthetic oil, the lower number on the Rotella kind of scares me but after all the reading here I think I will go with the Rotella T6 5W40.

Again Thanks

I'm a few miles north of the Ohio Mich. border. Been using the Rotella 5w50 since I got my Valk in "05".

I'm like Hoser, live in Iowa, 242K miles on MGM and all he has ever had is a snoot full of Mobil 1 - the auto side.   I buy this stuff by the 50 gal drum, it goes in all my bikes, Trikes, mowers, and little snow thrower, treated goes in the weed eater (2 stroke).  It's main purpose is for oil changes at the shop.  If customers don't like Mobil 1, we invite them to bring their own oil.    I think we only have 2 regulars that don't want Mobil 1 in their engines.  We average about 35 oil changes a month in the shop.   So every month, I have a standing order for a drum of oil.    John is usually there when we open on the 1st Monday of the month.   Should we run out, he will bring another barrel the same day I call if it is before 2:00 PM.   Super service from this supplier.

Has always gave me good luck so I no change.   Also, I don't worry about every little rattle either.    I just ride, or did, the snot out of him.    Son and Daughter are fulfilling that task for me now.     I am dedicated to the Chevy Trike.

This bike was built to RIDE, not to piss ass  around with everything on it.

As Forrest Gump would say:
“That's all I have to say about that.”
