Why not we just name a holiday after her?

Whitney was an entertainer, not a hero. No,...she was a drug addict!
People are honoring a drug addled singer, how stupid is that?

The way she sang the National Anthem makes all of us talentless would-be musicians wish we were her... the way she was hitting those notes and the look in her face that showed how much she was enjoying hitting those notes. But I get where you're coming from, lowering the flag for heroes, not entertainers... -Mike

Pretty pathetic to me. But then again our Gov is an A-hole. I thought she was an amazing talent and was a fan but to make a hero out of her is not right. Especially if drugs are what she died from. Our military men and women should have that type of honor reserved for them.

Are we running out of Marines, Sailors and Soldiers that fought bravely and DIED for our country. They truly deserve that honor. Historicaly naming ships has been states, cities, HEROS!, battles. I'm sorry she got shot and sorrier for the ones who died that day, however, all she did was survive. (The stupid computer posted before I was ready).

I agree with our Governor on a lot of things, but this is wrong. Seems like he's pandering to some demographic, not sure which one.
Hopefully common sense will rule here.

Well, I figure that if the Navy is going to name a warship after Gabbie Giffords, you know, because she got shot, then since they found Whitney under water, they'll name a submarine after her. Did I say that out loud. Back to the cave. -RP

Whitney like our men and women in the service were given a life. She decided to spend it on drugs and partying. Our men and women decided to spend their lives in serving this country and others. I am sad to see the wonderful person she was turn into a broke, drugged out shell of what she once was. But what she did she did for profit not for the good of the country. Why should we lift up someone who made bad decisions? I think at this point her life would be more of a value to our kids as a model of what not to do to the precious time allotted to us rather than honor her like a hero.

Could be a secret plan to wo"man" the ship with all women, get them all in the same "cycle" by close association and then ship them over off the coast of Iran.... The guy that got the "head shot" on Bin Laden deserves to have the ship named after him.... probably a little bit more so than any Governor/Senator/Congressman IMO.
