Today I started to rebuild my front forks an replace the steering head bushings should be fun.I downloaded the instructions from vrcc an it is going smoothley .I bought the bushings an seals several months ago waiting for the rains to come an get started. For christmas I bought a small lathe an it is making polishing the fork tubes so easy. With 130000miles on them its time. Its also a good time to get in an cleanup the whole area around the front without everything being in the way.I should have gotten a tire too an done the front tire change at the same time.I'll do that soon I'm still good for a while.I have almost 12000 miles on it now

Take lots of pics..would like to see how it all goes.  I believe I will eventually change out my front springs for some progessives as I think the front end has excessive dive when you're stopping.
Good luck !!

Did the forks last year on my 98 Tourer. Fork seal started leaking then the other started. So I ordered seals, bushings and guides. I didn't do springs I didn't think I had a lot of dive on braking even with 90k miles. After the rebuild I was a little surprised at how improved the front suspension worked. The bike is set up solo if riding two I would have changed the springs.

Art, I recently checked with MotorCycle SuperStore in Medford.   They'll mount your tire for $15 if you buy it there.  Not sure what tire you are running, but might want to check them out to see if their prices are good.
