I'm about to tackle some items on my Interstate and am wondering if any owners with experience may be near by. I'm about 40 miles straight west of Chicago. I'm looking to install my Audiovox cruise control, adjust/replace steering head bearings, grease/lube rear splines and maybe desmog the engine. I've done my own work on my Moto Guzzis for many, many years. I've done engine oil, oil filter, air filter rebuilt the fuel petcock, installed the Hondaline cb and installed the fog light kit from Big Mike. But not much else on the big Valk. Was wondering that since the rear wheel will be off it might be a good time to change the rear wheel bearings to the double row on each side as well. My Interstate is a 99 but it only has 15,000 miles on it.

I went through the Tech section and printed out a bunch of articles on the things I mentioned. I'll likely get a parts order going this weekend and then start when those items come in. Any additional advice you could offer would be great.

Thank You,

Mark

Take your time. One step at a time. You have a LOT of people here that are more than willing to help. P M my brother da prez-he's around the Cary Il. area. Worst he can say is maybe. crazy2 You have some folks fairly close to you that are active on the board. If i was closer i'd help you much as i could. Let us know what you find out. I have 55000 miles on my I/S and still on the original wheel bearings front and rear. Maybe i'll run up on you at Inzane?? Wink RIDE SAFE.

Hey Bill, when I read this I thought of you immediately. There is not much you haven't done by yourself. Your Cruise control install impressed the Heck out of me.  It's amazing what we learn by doing!

mark, funny that you mentioned this today!!  i was just thinking about you and your cruise control, and i thought, if you're willing to travel, come on up and stay the weekend, we'll get that thing done in a couple of hours.  we've got a spare bedroom so you wouldn't have to go to a motel.

I'm in the Cary / Crystal lake area. I do not know all that you are doing. but I own most of the odd tools that might be needed. You can pm me. I am in the process of installing OEM bags on my standard. I have a little machine work to do  to fit them with my hitch. If I can be of help, yell.
