Get on it and RIDE!!

Hardwick NJ

« on: February 17, 2012, 05:58:57 AM »

Was looking on Craigs list for a truck for sonny boy and he came across this what do you think?

Hello again,

I can assure you that everything is real !
At this moment I am in the military base in Hungary (Europe) getting ready for Afghanistan. This mean that I do a special training program and I am not allowed to get out of the base or give calls whenever I want. The car is already at the US Army logistics dept. in WA sealed and ready for shipping. The shipping can't be a problem because I can do it at no cost for you. You will receive the car along with all the documents including title and the bill of sale .
If you are interested here is how it works:
1. I'll open a transaction with Google Checkout for you using your delivery details as the buyer of my car. The car is already at the U.S. Army - Military Auto Transport Dept sealed and ready to be delivered.
2. Google Checkout will send you an invoice for payment and delivery details regarding our transaction.
3. You will send the payment to Google Checkout and they will notify me about the status while US Army - Military Auto Transport Dept will receive the confirmation of the payment and shipping will start to your location.
4. After you will receive and inspect the car and decide to keep it, US Army Financial Dept will inform Google Checkout about that and they will forward me the funds and the deal will be done.
Basically Google Checkout will secure the funds until you receive and inspect the car. You will have the 5 days inspection period. If the car is not as in description, it will be shipped back to me on my expense and they will give you a full refund. This way you will be able to inspect the car before committing to buy it and me knowing that you have the money and you are not just fooling around.
You will wire the money to Google Checkout not to me, they will keep the money safe until you will receive the car and send them the confirmation that you want to keep it and just after that they will release the payment to me.
If you would like to move forward with this deal send me your full name and address where you want it sent and we can start the transaction.

Thank you,
SFC Russell Barrow

Total scam. The military won't just ship cars around for people to look at. Steer clear

No "opinion" here...

No "ask this" or "check this"...

THIS IS A SCAM (yes I am yelling).... RUN AWAY... DO NOT EVEN TRY TO CONTACT THE SELLER, YOU'LL GET MORE B.S.

MOVE ON AND LOOK FOR A REAL VEHICLE... STOP WASTING YOUR TIME WITH A SCAM!

I have been in law enforcement for 20 years and have been in investigations for 14 of those years... if you even think about this deal you are going to lose your money and I guarantee that the police, FTC, FBI, Google, US Army... whomever, will be completely powerless to get your money back or file charges on anyone. I have seen this crap for ten years and there are very few agencies out there that can say they ever recovered one cent from these scammers. Pretty much all are based overseas. My agency has not sent me to Nigeria yet to investigate these fools and I don't see that happening anytime soon.

I can rattle off about 20 cases involving upwards of $100,000+ total that have come across my desk in ten years. Even had a former officer who lost $2600 on a motorcycle that he thought he found the perfect deal on!

I don't mean to sound so harsh... but you're asking for trouble by even considering such a obvious scam.

Was hoping that you were posting it as a "check this out, what a scam", but couldn't tell from your original post if you were serious or not.

But, I have it seen happen to people who I thought were really sharp, on down to persons who I could classify as mouth-breathers.

Glad you saw through it from the get go... proves once again that Valkyrie riders possess superior intellect.  cooldude

So your bike has how many cylinders?

Could be either but I'd be real cautious.  As a recently retired GI (22 years Air Force) he should be able to write a POA (Power of Attorney), signed the base/post legal office for someone he knows to handle the transaction.  I would then personally inspect the vehicle to ensure the VIN numbers match.  I would not do this via long distance.  If you can not lay your eyes on the vehicle or he will not accomplish a POA, run for the hills.

My 2 cents worth.

BTW - the military does ship vehicles and store vehicles for members deploying overseas. I am not aware of them shipping it anyplace.  My experience has been I had to pick up the vehicle at the port.

I was looking at a stored vehicle. I E-mailed him and told him I was flying to where the container was and would look. I had cash in my pocket. Suddenly the container was elsewhere. I told him (them) that was my next stop. Wherever the container was , was where I was going to be next. While this was going on, we reported them to E-bay. They had somehow back-doored E_bay.
The scam was busted this time. How did I know it was a scam. It was a photo of one of our club members car that was taken off our website.

Not long ago a beautiful black and green Valkyrie kept showing up on Craigslist for $2950. You would find them shopping it around in many different cities. Flagged it every time I saw it, and sent the A$$#0[e a note that I wanted to see it. When I got a response that said it was already packed up I called their bluff and told them just what I thought of them and that I'd flag their BS ad every time i saw it. Haven't seen it since.
