Petcock screen??

I took the petcock out for a rebuild and wanted to get the screen out to see if I want to replace it also. Didn't order the parts yet. Can't seem to get it out. Got the little black o ring that sits right there, but the rest doesn't want to budge. Got a hold of it with needle nose pliers and am deforming it. Is there a trick to it? It doesn't thread in or anything?

No threads... I bet you already tried turning and pulling. That is what worked for me.

Mine came out with pliers. I replaced mine didn't want to put the deformed one in the tank.
If there is a trick I haven't heard one.

I had to insert a round punch the same size as the inner diameter of the screen and clamp it with a pair of needle nose vise grips, the punch keeps it from collapsing as you squeeze and pull it out.

Used the punch method. Came right out.
I think it dried up over night and shrunk a little.
Definitely going to order a new one.
