I just installed a Kenda Challenger 130/90-17 backwards on my interstate. I have about 300 miles on it. I cant tell much of a difference from my Avon Venom. I havent really hit any twisties yet. Just rode round trip to Las Vegas NM yesterday. Superslabbed all the way, had to get the tires hot and get the release agent off them. My rear is General Altimax 205/60-16. I got mine of ebay for $25 + $17 shipping. My rear tire off Ebay for $74 free shipping. Sometimes you get great deals.

Have the same rear tire------my 4th car tire, but the first that hollers when I leave a light!!! Far as the front, have been happy with the handling of D404's-- but the one I have on now didn't make 10k.......just looking for a little more durability, but great handling as well-----love the twisties 2

I have the dunlop d404 130/90/17 bias ply on the front, mounted backwards. Got it from JC Whitney for 98.99 delivered. Don't know about the mileage yet, just put it on last month.

My 98 Tourer has a front D404 (3rd one) and the rear is the GYTT. Rode it cross country twice and I have no complaints. I keep a record of my maintenance and the front tires have been changed at 17K to 23K. I believe the 17k was early but I wanted to do the tire change at home before a long trip. My riding style is pretty calm as we age that happens. I'm running the 150/80

Wow!! I am getting about 15k at 45 psi and solo on my Metzler. I would figure you, with two full size Americans, would get less than that. ???

I use a d404f dunlop front tire, size 150/80/17 which is the correct size for a Valkyrie. I get about 20k on my tourer, cost $99 at jakewilson.com. Hoser

1999 IS, mostly stock, 38K miles. Dunlop D404 130/90-17 bias rear up front, $123.95 delivered (in Canada, discountmotorcycletires.ca) installed at 27K miles, Dynabeads for balancing.
Has 12K miles on it, still looks new, though I haven't tested for tread depth. Not reversed as I'm more concerned with water shedding than cap delamination. Fred.

Alright, Now I am confused. Which is the better size 150/80 or 130/90. I see that both are avialable in stores.
I am looking for a replacement for front tire. Which one effect the spedometer the least?

They are about the same size. The speedometer is fast about 5mph at a true75. 130mmx.90mm=117mm divided by 25.4=4.606" above and below wheel. So 4.606"+4.606" + 17"wheel = 26.208" tall 150mmx.80mm=120mm divided by 25.4=4.724" above and below wheel. So 7.724"+4.724" + 17"wheel = 26.448" tall So the 150/80-17 is .24" or 1/4" taller than the 130/90-17. Correct me if I am wrong

I have been running a D404 Rear on the front for about 12k now and it still looks new (and I am hard on tires). The tread depth on the D404 rear is double the tread depth on any front tire built for the Valk. I have adjusted to the speedo error (it was about 2-3 mph fast at 75 before I went to the 130/90 and is now right at 5 mph fast with the 130/90)

Front stock 150/80HR-17 120mm (sidewall height, double diff for tire height)
150mm (width) X 0.80 (aspect ratio, (sidewall height from rim))=120mm
130/90-17 117mm 140/80-17 112mm 140/90-17 126mm 150/70-17 105mm 150/80-17 120mm 160/70-17 112mm
I want to try a 150/90-17 (135mm) (comes in white wall). Might correct the speedo error, but I don't know if it will fit without adjusting the front fender. Fred.

I also have a kenda on the front and am getting ready to replace it soon.I have 11000 miles on it.It's good for another 1000.
