looks like the spacers started cutting into the basket. Did you clean up your basket and reinstall or put in a different basket? I dont see the cut marks in the clean one.

I'm looking at a 01 with less than 20k  to re-sleeve my bike. I'm over 210k mikes now. clutch just went soft.

When I pulled the basket out I saw the Scratch in the basket. After I cleaned up the basket it looked good to me. all the clutch disk were under the 3.5mm  wear limit, and the spring was also low at 4.8 mm.
I,m replacing all the clutch disks, spacer plate and the spring.

When you go to photobucket have it and the VRCC window open...Lay mouse on the picture....Look for IMG code( the bottom one ) ....Left click it ( Wait till you see " Copied " )  Come to the VRCC window and ....Right click and paste......Nice bike  cooldude
