Mine is American Family

Insured:
2008 Ford Crossover (Full)
1998 Valk (Full)
1998 Ford Taurus (Liability)
2002 Ford Taurus (liability

Total Annual cost:  $3120.00

This dont include my house insurance, it is included in my house payment(also have 1 mil umbrella on inground pool)

I am insurance poor.....

I have the homeowner's and cars as a package, cost is around $2800/year.  It's heavy on liability due to the pool even though it's screened in and the access doors have handles over 5' above the patio. Plus we also carry flood insurance at a cost of $425/yr.  We beefed up our coverage a little after the 2004 hurricanes, one passed right over the house causing just under $100k in damage. A real fun night!

The bike is fully covered with an extra rider for add-ons, total cost this year is $168 with Markel. Also have higher liability/property damage.

On the homeowner package, the cars are:
2008 Toyota Highlander
1994 Lexus ES300(well over 100k & runs like a clock)
1994 Chariot trailer bike hauler

Around $1000 a year for homeowners/cars (older and paid for cars with just liability).  Valkyrie is $80 a year for just liability.

At 3100.00 for a car and a motorcycle with full coverage and 2 old beaters with liability I think I am getting ripped off.  Sure I had 2 DWI's way back when I was young but I havent had a ticket since around 1992 or 93.  No way should I be paying this much.... And this is not including house insurance....

I agree- way too much! With no tickets in 5 years  you should qualify for a safe driver's discount too! I would take the time to shop and call around with identical coverage. Here Allstate, State Farm, Nationwide have some decent rates and  I'm sure all states will vary.

So far American Modern beat Progressive , Foremost, and Geico prices for bikes.  Wink

I went with Dairyland Insurance and couldn't be happier.  What American Family was going to insure me for was way too much.  I am paying 390.00 for two valks 99 I/S and 98 Tourer (annual).   They also cover up to 5k in accessories.

Auto is with AMICA along with the house.  I have a 95 civic, 98 chevy 1ton cost me for liability 400.00 a year.

I have not had a ticket since high school when my agent warned me that one more ticket I would be high risk so I figured out how to obey the speed limits.  I am now in my 30's.

My Car is with State Farm $800.00
The Valk with Progressive  $500.00      (includes coverage for the BushTec Trailer)
For a total of .................$1300.00

I was going to move the Valk & BushTec Trailer to State Farm but they were talking almost double what I pay progressive.  Shocked

Full coverage on all...
Valk with Progressive....158 yr

03 F150 Supercrew and
00 Jeep Wrangler both with Farm Bureau...around 800yr

So, a little less than 1000 for all.
Homeowners with Farm Bureau a little under 700yr.

Here in our province (Manitoba) we have the most expensive motorcycle insurance in the world. And its not even close. To ride a bike here you have to be a die-hard enthusiast. No one else rides. Motorcycles are becoming a rare sight. Why? We have public owned insurance with no option to buy private. And the costs of any accident a motorcycle is involved in is always attributed to the motorcycle. No matter who is at fault. Its how they justify the high rates.

Are you sitting down? Here's what I pay for 2 bikes. Full coverage.

1997 Honda Goldwing SE - $1682.00

1998 Valkyrie Std - $1680.00

Total = $3362.00

And here's rub #1 - our riding season is only 5 months so they pro-rate it so that you pay the whole amount during those 5 months. Want to cancel your insurance at the end of October? No problem, but you don't get any money back. Want to wait until May to insure it? No problem, but you still owe the total amount.
And here's rub #2 - the amount quoted is at the maximum 30% good driving record. Haven't had an at fault accident since 1977 and my last speeding ticket was in 1995. I have one accident or speeding ticket (highway act violations are tied into insurance premiums) and I lose the discount. Ouch.

Add my '99 Nissan Quest and the '02 Accord and my insurance bill for vehicles alone runs to $6000. And I'm the lucky one. My BIL rides a Honda Interceptor and pays $3200/yr. Crotch rockets get burned on their rates.
