These comparable boats for sale are listed as doing about 70mph (but they're much cheaper):

My compadre and I saw one tied up at Snoopy's Pier on the Intracoastal Waterway,  a month or so back.  It had four guns, the two closer to the stern were twins.  We hear the since the CoC moved the Coast Guard to Homeland Security, TX DPS has taken over their shallow water duties.

We hope the troopers learn to handle the boats better than the guys we saw trying to dock her.  Looked like a Texas Ranger was out there for no other reason than to get in the way since he didn't seem to know his aft from a hole in the ground.

A family of boat builders here, in the Bluff, have been building 70 mph boats for 30 years and more.  Up until a few years ago, they refused to sell the boats to the Fish and Game Dept.  Wink

I thought I heard a couple got ambushed on falcon lake last year? they were on PWC's and the scumbags shot up the husband?

I think  I also heard some discussion about the veracity of her story

I think they found the husbands body finally. Could be wrong though.

They thought the body might be his but it looks like it wasn't.

Question for you Texas folks..

I don't know anything about the law enforcement organizations in TX but can anybody say why this boat patrol would come under the highway patrol? Around here (SC) all water patrols are handled by the sheriff's departments or DNR.

When I first heard that lady's story I thought some concerned citizens with firepower might do a "Q" bass boat. The Q" ships were very effective, though kinda unfair.
Cant recall cartels playing by Marquis of Queensbury though.
 Good on ya TEXAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As I understand, it's part of the Homeland Security Shuffle.  The boat I saw looked like a re-commissioned Coast Guard vessel.
Sheriff's are primarily responsible for the jail and for serving warrants. Game wardens are armed and have arrest powers but I believe their purview is limited.  We still have Marina Patrol.

Thanks for posting that pic for me Titan.  I'm still trying to figure out how to do this computer stuff.  My wife's friend who is a deputy south of Fort Worth sent her that pic.  6, 240b's, firing 7.62 I think.  I thought they were 249 SAW's at first glance.   Armored in certian places,  with the 3, 300 Mercs.  Supposed to be 2 or 3 going to the Rio Grande, and a couple going to some of the South Texas waterways, according to the news feeds.  The cost was way up there too.
