Tuesday was a beautiful day...  60's, breezy, and sunny...  Perfect weather to saddle up the Valk, and blow away the crap that muddles up the mind, sittin' at a desk most of the day.  That's right - a 'Mental Floss Ride'  uglystupid2

Like most local rides, I pointed the big black beast towards the west, and twisted da wick...

About 1/2 hour in to my ride, I stopped for a photo op, at 'Monches Pond'...  Man, what a difference a few weeks make.  Just over a month ago, there was ice on the pond.  Two weeks ago, the trees were just starting to show some budding.  Now, it's startin' ta look like summer  Smiley

Almost dumped her, after taking this picture...  There is no more than three feet, between the edge of the road, and the water.  The ground is very soft, and she spun out to the right, as I tried to get back on the road.  Obviously, I made it OK.

Ever since I pulled the cover off, a month or so ago, the Valk has been adorned with all her parts and pieces.  But after going over her with a good dose of 'Joe's Juice', to remove the accumulated winter dust, I had the Lady in 'Pseudo Super Valk' mode, having removed the trunk and passenger seat.  Having shed a few pounds, she was feeling frisky, and so was I...

So, it was not the fault of the HD rider I came up on, that he was riding an inferior machine.  The speed limit on the road I was on (two lane, in the middle of nowhere) varied from 45 - 55 mph.  Let's just say I may have been going just a bit faster than the posted limit  coolsmiley  I was quickly on the HD's tail, and he was just above the posted limit.  I heard his pipes give away the additional throttle he applied, but still, the speed was not what I was looking for...  The road was twisty, and marked with a double yellow...  I just dropped a gear, and waited for a legal opening...  When it came, I swooped in to passing mode, and the 'turd' on the HD cranked it up, as though he didn't want me to pass...  Needless to say, he was a speck in the mirror in short order.  I love the smell of roast pork in the evening  Wink

One of the things I wanted to do this ride, was to stop at 'Mickey's Custard' in a small town, called Hartford WI.  I had received a flyer in the mail, a few weeks ago, reminding me about their 'Two Wheel Tuesdays'.  Hit it last year, a few times, and it was nice.  Small, a dozen bikes or so, but nice.  Well, when I arrived, I 'was' TWT...  Not one other bike  Undecided  There was a guy, with a beautiful, fully restored '48 Ford Pickup Truck, so I shot the breeze with him, while I munched a burger.

When finished eating, I took the long way home, and enjoyed a bit more sedate pace...  After all, Bambi was every where, and I was in no mood for trying the tactics discussed in Willow's 'Dog' thread  Wink  I did have a good sized Coyote dash across the road, in front of me, but nothing to worry about.

All in all, a very nice ride...  Clocked in at 86 miles.

Have a great day everyone  cooldude

Glad you had a nice ride Steve. Bike still looks good. I hope to get a ride in this weekend. Older brother wants to go to HELL.. Michigan that is. Just got my bike back together last night after my tire incident.
I too had a similar thing involving a Harley last year. Me and brother Bovine were coming back from London Onterio down highway 24 in Ohio. As we were coming up on Antwerp Oh we came up on four bikes, two Harleys,a Kaw and Yamaha cruisers. They were runing at the speed limit or lower looked lkke they were just out for a nice Sunday ride but I just wanted to get home. So when we got out of Antwerp I told Chris on the comm that i was going to pass them. When I got the opertunilty i dropped  gear and hit it. As I got to the lead bike (a Harley) I heard his engine come up. We passed them like they were backing up. As we got into New Haven (about 25 miles from Antwerp) they caught up with us at a stoplight just out of town. The lead guy comes up and says (what the hell is that). I told him. He said wow that thing runs. I said thanks and we parted ways. Except for some wind south of Detriot to Toledo it was a nice ride home. Have a great weekend.....Hey Steve you going to make the Blue/Gray ride ?

How do you guys always find a Harley rider that want to race you?  Is it a certain road?  A certain time of day?  A certain region?  When I ride my Valk, I can never find a Harley that wants to race.  They all seem to just mind their own business.  When I ride my Harley, I can never seem to find a Valk.  So, tell me.  Is it a secret road?  Maybe a secret handshake to get into the club?  It seem to happen to every member of this club everytime that they go for a ride.

LOL...  I kinda thought this might get you (mcrider) outta the 'lurk' mode...

I live in SE Wisconsin.  The main HD plant, is just 1/2 hour from my home.  Around here, the sheep are everywhere  uglystupid2 , and yes, most of them have this 'thing' about any bike that is not a HD.  I, like many others in the VRCC, have walked up to my bike, in a parking lot full of HD's, and found one or two other riders looking the Fat Lady over...  Some of them, usually with well worn leathers, and skin that can only be had with many miles on two wheels, will stop and talk.  Lots of questions, and real amazement at the nickle trick.  Others, the ones with the jacket, chaps, boots and gloves, all 'spit shined' will tell me how my 'Jap Crap' is not a real bike, even after I show them the 'Made in USA' stamp on the engine.  When it comes to the second group of posers, I just tell myself, ya can't fix stupid  crazy2 .

Hey, as far as the 'roll on' when being overtaken, I can't explain it.  But, there is no doubt that they have goosed it, because those 'loud pipes' give 'em away  coolsmiley

What I'm saying is that, in my neck o' da woods, HD's are everywhere...  Many of those riders have a 'tude, when it comes to other bikes, IF they are not HD's.  Who am I to pass up a chance to show what the ol' Girl (12 years and going strong) can do?  I'm just doing my part for 'continuing education'  cooldude

Mcrider, you have both a Valk, and an HD...  You, of all folks should know that there is a reason, a stock HD (not talkin' V-Rod now), should never try to mess with a Valk...  Burnt bacon will be the only result.

Enjoy your ride, no matter which bike you take out this weekend.  Be safe!
