I purchased a set of chrome swing arm covers. What is the best double sided tape to use. Any hints or pointers to ensure a problem free installation?

rxvalk....I take it that you bought a used set seeing that new they came with the two faced already on the back.  I try to use a good brand of tape when I do use it.....My choice is the 3-M brand.

I bought mine brand new and they wern't a perfect fit. I clamped them in place overnight and they haven't budged since.

If you have a used set, have you considered using epoxy instead of tape? A 2 part long cure would be the best, golf club epoxy would be strong enough. If you needed to remove them at a later date for any reason then a heat gun would break down the epoxy.

Don't know about epoxy, but I have added a bead or two of RTV clear silicone to various chromy/shiny parts where the double sided tape didn't look all that secure.... specifically on swingarm and drive shaft covers.  Holds well, insulates potential vibration, keeps out moisture, but can be pulled off any time with ease.

Obviously, everything need to be clean first.

3M has a very good heavy duty tape designed for outdoor use.  It is dark red in color.  I used it when the original tape on my swing arm covers worked loose, and it has been sticking fine for several years.
