A bad map and a long ride in Northern New Mexico!

Jacksboro, TX

WWW
« on: February 21, 2012, 07:36:48 PM »

I have been over on advrider.com poking around.  Not my first venture there reading, and I have to admit, the dualsport thing looks kind of fun.   I love riding in Colorado, and reading some of the ride reports and watching their videos has me thinking another toy might be in the future.  I told my wife I have to do it before I get too old to take the beating these guys do on some of the one and two tracks...

Just curious if anyone here participates over there.   I did notice a Valk in one of the pictures out in AZ one of the members posted, he had parked his bike next to it.  Now it is valk related!!!!

see ya..

I've been a member there for a couple of years. After looking at some of their reports, I've decided that almost ANY bike is a dual-sport! cooldude

I've been a member of that site since 2003.
I read it when I can because of all the good ride reports.

Me too, been a member for a a couple of years. I have a Kawasaki KLR 650 along with my Valkyrie and my GoldWing. ADV Rider is a great site, great ride reports, threads on ALL kinds of bikes, including Valkyries and GoldWings. Those people on that site are just hard core motorcycle riders, all makes, all kinds, they ride em everywhere Smiley Also, very informative about what gear works and what doesn't, they tell it like it is. And, if your looking for used gear, they have some of the best classifieds on the net. You can pick up some quality stuff from the riders over there. The inmates, as they like to call themselves, can get a little "salty", but mostly its just a great MOTORCYCLE site. And yes dual sport bikes open up a whole new world of fun riding, or bring back the past, if you grew up on dirt bikes like I did. I love my KLR. And with the price of gas going over 4 bucks a gallon here in Southern Cal, and the KLR getting around 50mpg, it makes a very nice commuter bike.

Do you have to join to see the classifieds?  I went there and didn't see any classifieds.  Stan

I've been a member there for several years, if you look in the road warriors section you will find a thread called "any valkyries around here" and you'd be surprised how many valk riders are members, we've been to many of their campouts and have made a lot of friends there, another great group of people.... cooldude

I figured there were a few crossovers.  I was checking to see if I had a membership over there... I guess not, or it has been too long.   I was sure I had signed up several years ago, but got distracted when I divorced, and gave it up.

I am going to sign up again.  And BTW, thanks for the valk lead...it helps to have a few people you are familiar with when you walk in to a room full of strangers.   angel

see ya,

Craig
