Another stupid question (indulge me please  Wink)......Wiring up my stereo in my Woodys fairing.  The stereo's (Sony DSX-S100) installation manual (which isn't all that clear) calls for installing the black negative/ground wire to a chassis/frame ground.

Thought about runing it to the triple tree, but Ricky-D changed my mind for me.   Wink  Is there any reason why I can't wire it to a negative terminal on my fuse block, or should I stick to the instructions and wire it to a frame ground.

The last time I hooked up a stereo was back in the early 70's when I hooked up my Craig 8 track.   Shocked

The negative terminal on your fuse block should be OK, assuming you sized it big enough that you don't have to worry about load & capacity.  However, move the other end of that ground to the steel frame, if it's still on the engine block.  Then add a grounding strap between the engine block and the frame.  Pay particular attention to the connection on the block - I use electrically conductive compound.  One is made by Ideal - P/N 30-026, called NOALOX Anti-Oxidant Joint Compound.  It is specifically for making electrical connections to aluminum.  Another product is Quick Start Copper Formula Electrical Connection Compound.  I also had a similar compound provided by Lincoln Electric, when I had to replace the big capacitors on a MIG welder, it was for improving conductivity of aluminum connections.  I'm sure you can find at least the first one above, online.  Or something that does the same thing at a welding supply or other electrical supply store.

Alrighty.......I've extented the wire with enough to get back to the battery area on the bike.  I can either wire it direct to the PC-8 negative.....opposite where I'm putting the yellow power wire (fused 15 amps as recommended)......or run it to a frame ground.

Which way should I go here?

frame  cooldude In fact one coil is closer to the front of the bike and under the tank and it held on by 2 easily accessible bolts you could use this too.
