i live in knoxville, TN, I have ruled out about everything, I think if it was in the radio it would never work, and i have cleaned the control box over and over with electrical contact cleaner and the fitting behind the fairing.

iv'e had CB's with the same problem..if there is a broken solder joint on a circut board in the radio..it would cause what your describing..try this..pull the case off the radio the best you can..and have someone run the volumm control while you press on certain places on the circut board in the radio..if it all of a sudden starts working..you know you've got a broken solder joint. most time broken solder joints are hard to spot unless the board is twisted just right..other times they stick out like a sore thumb. also broken solder joints are an easy repair..maybe theres someone close to you with an I/S..that would be willing to plug his radio into your bike to see if everything works properly with another unit.

When I got my cycle the radio didn't work, turns out that when the guy I got it from replaced the battery, he accidentally pulled the wires out of the back of the radio its self! I had to remove the radio, open it up, and carefully push the wire harness back onto the PC board of the radio unit. The radio works, and I even haggled $100 off the price.... Who knows, maybe that happened?? I’m sure the radio's still good, it's just got to be something as simple as a break in the circuit somewhere....
