now simmer down, I'm sure to get a few snide remarks  Cool

I get bored way to easy, 4.5 years into driving truck and I'm finding it a yawn fest.

8 years into the post office and same thing

8 years in a window and door mill ditto

I told the wife I wonder if I'd be any good at gun smithing. she said I should look into it.   cooldude
well at least I got the wife on board, but I just got my trucking school paid off  uglystupid2

maybe I should stick to what I know, at least for a while longer.  I might take alook at another carreer whist I'm putting around....

I worked as a part time gunsmith for a while in the late 70's/early 80's. Quit because I didn't have much patience for paperwork and most any kind of paperwork screw up is a felony.  Shocked

It was the most enjoyable thing I've ever done to make money. I'm planning on getting my FFL back within the next year or two and getting started again. I've found that I really enjoy working with a metal lathe and I have most of the tools now that I couldn't afford back then. Wish I had room for a range here at the house. That would be a big plus.

The most enjoyable thing I did was probably cold rust bluing an old side by side and repairing/refinishing the stocks. It wasn't a collectors gun so there was no value lost by the restoration and it was beautiful afterwards even if I do say so myself. Since I was doing it for a friend I only made about a nickle an hour on it though.  Cry

I did 50 years as a machinist .It was a very good trade but I cannot understand how someone can stay in the same job for there whole working life .I must have changed employers 9-10 times in that 50 years. One thing is for sure I would not take any BS from anybody I worked for or with.I worked hard an earned my keep an didn't need anyone pestering me.Would I do it over again ? yes
