Well, it happened again this week. Went to my favorite gas station and filled up. Inside while paying, the attendant told me ethanol is again in the gasoline. Crap! That's how the bike is running again. Harder starting, incessant popping, a real pain. The Shell station five or six miles away boasts non-ethanol gasoline. Guess it'll take a few tankfuls to clear it out. My can for the lawn mower only holds a few gallons. Any one want some free gasoline - ethanol enriched? How can the government do that to us?

The gas may let the engine pop, but Id say theres another cause. I use ethanol gas and have no popping issues. The only thing I have noticed is gas mileage down a couple mpgs since using it.
Check:
upper and lower intake clamps where the intakes connect to the carbs
exhaust header nuts
vacume lines

I agree. Most gas already has some ethonal in it. 10% in Ind and soon maybe 15%. I get it when I go west of the Mississippi. Cheaper. 88 octane i believe. It will be is 4th Sturgis stip with Eth with no problems but a few less mpg.

I've started using super and adding a few ounces of k1 kerosene,(jetfuel). Kerosene and #1 diesel fuel are the same. So u are causing major carbon buildup on the piston tops.

Hey RickyD , I posted the same problems with my Fat Lady when I used that 10% for the first time in Houston at Hot Glues BBQ..... it ran like I had water in the gas and it took two tanks to finally clear out that CRAP after I got home ..... and now some of the Walmarts here in San Antonio are selling that 10% crap .... I did not notice until it was too late on the way up to Kerrville .... So this is what I did to get the old Fat Lady running smooth again .... I put in some 104 octane booster in with that gas and it smoothed out my bike a lot quicker , it may not work for everybody but it worked for me and from now on I look for the 10% notice .... Thanks Old Geezer Richard
