Road from Okla. city to Ardmore Okla. went around Lake Murray then to Gainsville TX. back to Okla city, very nice ride 80 degrees. The road follows the shape of the lake lot of 90 degree curves and roller coaster hills. There is a section of road south of Ardmore and west of Lake Murray called thrill hill, you get to the top of the hill and it drops off the other side, when I was a kid we would go over in our cars about 60mph all tires leave the ground did it on my I/S today at 70 mph was in the air a good 50 feet, not high length , highth off pavement about 10 feet, the other side is down hill so you land real soft. Even more of a thrill on a big bike cooldude

If you are riding  and it is a must that you keep your eyes on the road, you are riding too fast.

102 miles south of Oklahoma city I-35. Will have to get a helmet camcorder, if you saw it done you would do it, the road rarely has traffic about 4 miles long with 1 Hill. You can do 35-40 mph still leave the ground. The angle of the other side is steep you can't really feel when you come back to pavement.

My brother lived on that road back in late 70's I had a 250 dirt bike  a lot of my friends and I grew up out in the area, I could not count the # of times we went over it in cars and MC. This is first time I did it on big bike but really no different

I am going to have to question the accuracy (veracity?) of the original post.  I am finding it hard to believe that almost 900 -  1000 pounds of rider and valk can reach a height of 10 feet off the pavement for 50 feet at 70 mph and then touch down so lightly that you can hardly feel it.  Really!!  I, too, would like to see this done.  The physics involved in this feat, especially with the rpms that come with 70 mph and the transmission providing power to the rear wheel, seems pretty dicey to me.  In a car, yes.  A stunt man on an appropriately equipped cycle, yes.  An ordinary human on a valk ----- if you say so, I guess.

As far as the 10 feet off ground I'm looking at my living room ceiling and your right not that high but when I looked down it looked that high, for argument sake I will say 5' and the distance is pretty close, the mph is dead on. You would have to see the slope on the other side. I weigh 180 bike is ?
Now what is this transmission power to rear wheel stuff ? you think an I/S will not do 70 mph, by the way when you leave the ground you let off throttle and pull clutch.

You say a 1000 pound bike can't do this  but you say a 3,500 pound car can, something wrong with your logic.

I never said the bike had to climb to a certain height, the road is fairly level before going over, the other side drops off.

I was never questioning whether your interstste could go 70 mph; of course it can do so and way beyond that.  I was questioning whether you could indeed leave the ground for 50 feet, reach a height of 10 feet, and then land without feeling much of an impact.  I still question that.  You say you weigh 180 and a normal interstate weighs at least 800.  That's where I came up with the weight estimation.  I also thought the power to the rear wheel complicated the physics of landing, but if you pulled in the clutch until after you were safely down (you didn't mention that in your original post) you were much more likely to land safely.  That was my concern.

Why would anybody keep the throttle active midair?
I'm telling what I did, it is like my back yard, I only posted to say what I did today.

Years ago I lived in Tucson; they had arroyos.  We used to drive through them at a good clip, I don't recall exactly but 70 or so.  The car would leave the ground as the road dropped away and again on the other side.  At the right speed, landing was fairly gentle as the car rejoined the pavement.  It wasn't unlike a ski jump.

Lived in Vegas too.  NE of Nellis there was a dirt road that was like a roller coaster. You could drive fast on it and do jumps too.  It was best to clear the road first, it was single lane but it was also a dead end. So once you knew nobody was back there, you could go as fast as your balls let you - provided you were driving towards the dead end.

There is a hill in Topeka like that, the ones that crash are the ones going too fast, if you are at the speed limit (35 mph) you will get off the ground and hardly feel it.  If you don't want to leave the ground you must slow down.  I, for one, believe his claim.  Hoser   Shocked

I'm a Dukes of Hazard fan.  There is no doubt in my mind that you do the jump, I'd just like to see the video.  It sounds like fun.

Considering 10' off the ground, I'm 6'1" I was standing when I went over and when I came down,  with bike 5' off ground + my highth  would put my eyes around 10' off the ground. This is for the teck and engineer people. cooldude
