On Feb. 28, Gov. Bob McDonnell signed HB-187 into law, which prohibits motorcycle-only checkpoints. The law will take effect on July 1, 2012.           

The Virginia Senate unanimously approved HB-187 on Feb. 13. The General Assembly passed HB-187 by a vote of 85-10 on Jan. 31.
