Ya know... this here forum sure is useful. First the good advice on desmogification (got rid of the snap crackle and popping) .... adjusted the pilot screws and now I've installed a 4 degree trigger wheel and voila' ... no more flat spot in roll on acceleration at speed. My seat-o-pantsometer doesn't detect a huge difference in performance but besides eliminating the notorious flat spot, throttle response across the RPM range does seem improved. I haven't filled up yet so can't report on improved mileage.

Oh, by the way, I wanted to put in a 6 degree wheel but could only find a 4 degree wheel from the Goldwing vendor (the name escapes me that this late hour).

The last thing is to change the jets from 35 and 100 to 38 and 115 and synch em all.  I'll have to pay someone to do that for me as that project is above my pay grade.

I have the 4* in one IS and OE in the other.  I think the rpms are a bit higher in the 4* bike, but there is no appreciable difference between them, and I have to run premium in the 4* or I knock.  When I change the belts, the 4* goes away.

Why do you want to install 115 mains ?? These monsters tend to run a tad rich with the originals..

Even with Cobras and K&N without pre-filter there should be no need to put in 115 mains.

If you really want to do it right, get your bike dyno-ed once everything is optimized and re-jet accordingly.  You'll most likely be running way too rich otherwise.

If the bike is running alright, why do ya want to muck with it?

MGM has 242K+ on the odometer and still is running the stock jets, and no problem even when it sets in a cold garage all winter.

At the shop we get a lot of people in who want this added and that changed, ask em why, they say we read it on a forum on the Internet that says it will help out performance.    We say okay and make the changes.

3 weeks later they are back in wanting us to change it back as gas mileage went in the cellar.    I realize, this is on cars and trucks, not bikes, but they are all combustion engines.

Really makes no difference to us at the shop, cause it just means more income to the shop doing it the 2nd time.

In fact we have a 69 Camaro setting in the job work to be done row, they want us to take the cam back out we put in in November.   Fine with me, but the Tech ain't too happy, as they are easier to change if ya pull the motor.   Think this is the way we are going to go this time.

Then next month, he will be in with another wild hair up his butt and want something else done.     At least he has the cash to pay for the work.

Yeah, I talk about getting the jets changed, but when the comment about "If it's running well, leave it alone." is pretty good advice... and she is running well. Certainly strong enough to generate bug catching grins.  Grin

You can change your jets to the 115 size if you want (Lord knows, I've changed mine every which way but loose.), but you are going to find out that the 115's are way too much fuel going in.  The 38's are a good choice, and if you are set in your mind to change the big jets......102's, or 105's seem to do alot better.  There is alot to be said about what MR. TOJO HONDA designed into this bike....He really knew what he was doing. cooldude

Kinda like we done in the Navy and my race stuff-if it ain't broke don't fix it til it is!! uglystupid2 My I/S is  sitting at 55+++ miles as it came from honda. cooldude The front wheel will come off the ground if you twist the right hand grip hard enough and you don't have to pop the clutch. 2funny It will still go to 130 M P H indicated with no hesitation at all. cooldude Iffin that do not put grins on yer face maybe you need to become a jet pilot. cooldude RIDE SAFE.
