The Wife wanted to "look" at new phones.....she barely uses any minutes each month and limited texting....but she wanted to be able to check her email from the phone, SO.....the nice guys at the Verizon store twisted our arms into buying Iphone 4's.....my upgrade wasn't supposed to be available until June, but he said he'd wave the extra fee if I got an Iphone too.......mine's black....the Boss's is white..... Cheesy

I had planned on a new phone anyways, but the fact that the chargers for the other Itunes accessories charges the phone also was a big selling point....I can throw one in the trunk on the bike and not have to pay $30 each for new chargers.....the only thing extra we bought was a new case for each one....she got a pink one, and I got a tough Otter case.......

the other "bad" thing is that I'll have to pay a little more for the data stuff for her phone now and extra insurance for her's.......BUT, I'm switching to AT&T U-verse in a couple of weeks and will save about the same amount/month with the cost savings that gives me..... cooldude

I just have to learn how to set everything up in this new phone now.....can be fun, but a PIA too..... Undecided

We did the same thing a couple months back. Big PIA to learn all over, but it is a whole new thing. We also had to pay a little extra for the added data. However my wife's is unlimited, and I don't use mine enough for other than calls anyhow.

why would you buy the data plan?  my wife and kids all have wi-fi on their phones, go to most any business and they have free wi-fi, our phone company wanted to screw us with a $50 data plan, told them i didn't need it.  BTW they have iphones that i broke into so they work on T-mobile.

I've got some reading and playing to do.....I guess you have to hit the "home" button to get back to the home screen.....on the Droid, you could use the swipe of a finger to go back home.....

That voice is so annoying. Like anyone needs ANOTHER thing bitching at you to do stuff.

Chargers for phones are all pretty much universal now.

Both my wife and I love ours, it really saves you when you an example is I am out shopping and have a question about something I can take a pic of it instantly send it to her and make sure Im getting the right thing. My wife didn't want one at first now she cant be without the texting. The kids text her, her friends text her and if she finds something at a sale and wants a friends opinion bam she can send the pic. Facetime is pretty cool I was able to see my father and talk to him and show him what we changed around the house and see how he was doing. Compass and gps are pretty cool. Memo either voice or writing and there are so many apps that you can do so much more. My grand kids use it to play angry birds and know how to use the phone and they are only 3 and 5. Listen to videos and I hook mine up to external speakers to listen to the radio or my own music while Im working on my Valk or in the garage. There is a flashlight app so your never without a light. I also have the military app that you can see equipment news clips and footage. Now you can even get a pulse app and I think blood pressure app. There is a remote app that you can control the tv or video recorder or any other thing that runs by remote. video tape a conference or take a pic of the parts or parts numbers I need then I always have it with me. When I cut the lawn I listen to the Bible, couldn't let that pass  Grin  Facetime you have to be on a wi fi connection though. NO more information you can go to the store on the internet and call the number just by clicking the number. It just makes things easier.

Stanley, you mentioned insurance. Take a look at insuring it through SquareTrade instead of paying a monthly fee to Verizon.

I've been using them for years for all my mobile devices.

I think that you will enjoy your new iPhones.  I am not an aficionado of cell phones and particularly hated my previous google phone so I got an iPhone 4 and find it very easy to use.

I guess I misunderstood. Safari is your web browser. So you go into Safari and negotiate your way to the VRCC site just as you would in any web browser. Then, while you are on the web page that you want to make into a favorite and save to your home screen, click the arrow at the bottom of the screen. There's several choices under that menu. One of them is to add to your home screen.

If you'll send a PM I'll give you my phone number and will be glad to answer any questions by phone to help get you up and running.

Ok....I'll try it that way...I didn't know that Safari was the web browser....I navigated to the VRCC from a Google icon I had added to the home screen

You're welcome!

Be sure to go into Settings, and poke around. Clickeverything you see in there at least one time and just look around. You don't have to change anything you don't understand. But at least look around. t'll help you later f you're at least a little bit familiar with the settings.

Always keep your WiFi turned on. It will automatically hook back up to any that you've previously used. As long as you're on Wifi, you're not using your limited data on the 3G network. But you might want to turn off the thing about "Ask to join networks" or it'll be popping up when you're out and about asking you to join networks as you pass by them.

A tip for making the battery last a whole lot longer... set the brightness to about half and turn off auto brightness. That will add many hours to battery life. You can manually go in there and turn the brightness up if you need to use it outside.
