I am hesitant to reply to your thread because I sure don't want to lead you on a "wild goose chase" so I will preface this with a suggestion to use the search function very thoroughly.

It seems there was a thread regarding the same problem a long time back and the ailment was found to be in a connector that is wrapped within the harness.

The location of the connector was under the battery box and in front of the rear wheel.

Now I want to repeat that you should do a search regarding this before you start to tear into the bike and the harness.

Maybe someone who remembers better than I will comment on my post and suggestion.

Did the radio work before you replaced the battery? Make a search for a cable not hooked back up to the positive post of the battery. Maybe there was a seperate wire for the radio that fell down when you removed the battery two months ago.

Describe what you see on the LCD display when you turn the key to the on position.

No radio display but you do see the gas gauge display?

This sounds like it could in your main wiring harness.  There is a hidden splice plug inside your main wiring harness that could be the cause of your problem.
I had the same radio problem as you and fixed it.
I just emailed you a detailed Word document with pictures on how to fix it. There is  NO GUARANTEE but what you are describing sounds like the splice plug. The plug gets corroded and causes the LCD display to crap out and:

•   Stop Lights;
•   Clutch Lever Switch;
•   Side Stand Switch;
•   Neutral Switch;
•   Alternator turn on and voltage sensor wire;
•   Bank angle sensor and relay
•   General grounds

Look at the picture in this previous post and you will see what the splice plug looks like.

you might want to break it apart and spray the connector with contact cleaner a few times and work it on and off a few times. might get lucky watch you spray and protect painted parts.If this works you might want to put some dielectric goo on the contacts

Highly unlikely that will work. The degree of corrosion inside theses plugs makes it too far gone. The only work around is to cut the plug out and splice the wires together. The splice document details the color coding of each group of wires that need to be spliced/soldered together.  After some heat shrink and electrical tape the problem is solved. I fixed mine 4 years ago and haven't had an issue since.
