This is a serious thing BTW. In June I'm gonna let them shave my bean to raise funds to fight childhood cancer (because Cancer sucks).

Actually, several of our Michigan members are regular participants in supporting St. Baldricks.

It's me, our event is in April this year.  I was gonna let Advil know there are a lot of generous folks on this site that have helped me raise over $7805 over the last 5 yrs.  The two shave off events I organized raised over $31,000.  I wanted to let him know he was slacking setting his goal at only $250.  I think he's sandbagging.

Seriously folks, this is a great cause.  We all know kids who's lives have been affected by this horrible disease and it's time to put an end to it.  Let's all help Advil reach his goal and then some.

I even got the Rogue Rides involved.  I hope you don't mind if I post a Pic, if you do PM me and I'll remove them.

Rogues before

Rogues After

GOOD LUCK!

That's a great thing to do Anvil. As suggested on your donation page I shared the link with friends, local riders and family. Hope some of them donate too.

My bud Jim whose wife has been bravely fighting breast cancer for years grew a ponytail so he could cut if off and donate it for wigs for cancer victims.

It's bad enough when it hits adults, 100 times worse with kids. I think the worst part of dying from cancer for my Dad was seeing the kids with it when he went for treatments.

Maybe this will be the year they find a cure.

That is lipstick.  One of the waitresses thought I was Stanley Steamer and couldn't keep her hands (or lips) off me.

Really folks, please, if you can afford it, donate to anvil's cause.  And if you've never been to one of these events, you owe it to yourself and the poor kids that do not deserve the hand they are dealt, to go, have a few drinks and have a blast watchin all the shavees get scalped.  My friends from across the border will tell you what great events these are, organized by folks who just want the suffering to end.  Adrian and Sue surprised me by showing up last year, but I think they will agree that it was worth the trip, and I thank them for their support.

Anvil, how does your event work?  Do you all shave at one event?  Post some information and hopefully some of the local VRCC members will show up to show their support.  I hope your event is successful and you all surpass your goals.

Well you can go to a number of local barbers or hair stylists and get a buzz but I'm gonna make the trip to Foxborough (it's AT Gillette stadium I think) to have mine done at the big central event. I've got friends (I know, right???) down on the south side of MA that I'm trying to get involved as well. I'm gonna try and make it an opportunity for a group event. Any support would be fantastic.

And I'm not sandbagging, I was just trying to be realistic. I haven't done this kind of fundraising thing in a long time so I'm not sure what to expect.  Wink

Thanks everyone for the donations. The amount is irrelevant. Knowing the people here even if you don't give anything to this event you probably gave it somewhere else and none of us are made of money. If you can't give money send a prayer. If you can't pray, send a good thought. That's all.

Oh wait, that's not all... to all the other guys (and maybe gals) here who participate; rock on, bald is beautiful.  coolsmiley

Only 150 so far, but that's cool. I know people here have been real generous overall and you can only give so much before you don't have enough for yourself. It will be all of my cheap-crap Facebook friends that will feel my wrath if they don't pony up.  Wink

Keep bumping it every once in a while so those who haven't seen it can and those who were broke when they first saw it get another chance.

And, good on you for doing it.

Hmmm, while this might appear to be a noble gesture.... from what I recall, your bean has been kept  shaved, but your beard wasn't.  Maybe we need to see before and after pics..... prove your cranium follicular fertility and so forth.

Thank you very much for the bump.

And actually yes, I have been maintaining a shaved head every summer for the past 15 years. But I had actually decided to grow it long for a change. It's quite luxurious as we speak. This kinda puts a wrinkle in that.

I have an awesome head of hair. It makes bald people very jealous. I don't know if it will be long enough to make a wig but there's another couple months to go.
