You haven't lived until you've driven in the third world.  Driving in Istanbul and Ankara Turkey was just loosely organized insanity.  Imagine driving in ancient cities with no planning of any kind with thousands who have never had any training or license of any kind (they do have licenses, but you'd never know it).  Minimal traffic control devices (stops signs, lights, painted lanes, left turn lanes, cross walks.. so the thousands of pedestrians just sprint across when they think they can make it, and not just at corners).

Rule one:   if you're there first, keep going you have the right of way.

Rule two:   always use the horn and never the brakes, the horn never wears out.

Taking cabs was dirt cheap, and way safer for your car.  Plus, it was like a day at Disneyworld on the scary rides, for only a couple bucks.

Obviously, even the pedestrians have developed some skill at avoiding being run down.   crazy2

I have been going to China for 15 years and that video is nothing compared to how bad it was before they had traffic laws.
The only rule is fill the empty space with a car, bike or person, dont' get hit and avoid hitting anything bigger than you.
They can do some amazing things on a 125cc bike, 3 or 4 up no problem.

When I was in China a decade ago, I was told they have a saying about traffic that loosely translates to 'flow as if like water', and what you seen here is more cooperation and less agression. Couldn't happen here; too many folks on their cell phones, texting or driving like they are Nascar drivers. Here in S Florida, we have the snowbirds of winter who go nowhere slowly, often looking for the next early bird special.

When I'm behind them they seem to go everywhere slowly.
