Plan a few days to really enjoy it. If you don't want to do it during the Rally in aug, don't go a week before or after. Also stay away from the week of July 4th. There is a Sturgis Riders Rally going on in town. Might not have alot of people but will be quite a few.
Hit the Badlands. Might as well go to Wall while you are there. Nice to see once. Do it early in the morning.

Custer St park with the wildlife loop is good. Since your there hit Needles Hiway and Iron Mountain Rd. Rushmore and CrazyHorse. This is all doable in a day or so.

Once in the north part of the Hills hit Vanocker Canyon road into Sturgis or Nemo Rd. Nice Roads. Take 14A from Sturgis to Deadwood. Lots to see there. Then take Spearfish Canyon. They say take it north bound and you'll see more. Spearfish is a big town with a Honda dealer and your normal town stores so if you need anything stop here. Go on west bound on I-90 and stop at the Vore Buffalo jump by Beuhla Wy. Then swing up through alladin Wy and through Hulet onto Devils tower. Its a nice loop. While there you can swing up into Alzada MT. Nothing there but a gas station. Leave there and head back to Bel Fouche Sd and back into Sturgis. Alot of biker bars in town for some reason.

Visit some. Really neat. Stop on main st and visit some shops. Out past the Full Throttle is Bear Butte Mountain. Not alot to see but it really is a must stop. You can't miss it as you get near Sturgis. Only mountain in town.
Bring rain gear and a leather jacket with you. It can be 90 deg at some parts and frosty the next. Storms are expected about everyday. Try and leave the Hills before it gets dark. But if not watch for large critters. There are alot.

Don't worry if you miss stuff. We have been there 4 times now and I have not seen it all yet. This is what will bring you back!
