I thought I saw that the other on a TV movie about 2 kids football teams - the ones using that play were the team of kids who never got picked  - it was entertaining both on the movie on in that clip (and I do not even follow sports)

looked like the ball hit the gound on that last lateral.....I didnt think they could advance the ball in college play after recovering that.  I may be wrong, thought I was wrong once before but I was mistaken  Cheesy

A backwards pass is a live ball even if its muffed and hits the ground. It's treated the same as a fumble. You can't advance or recover a muffed forward lateral because it's the same as a pass. You're right, of course, that a fumble that is recovered by the other team cannot be advanced in college ball.
