St Paddy's day is this Saturday.  Here's some tunes to help get you in the mood.  Irish music lifts the soul.  Well, except the one by Planxty, I get gnats in my eyes on that one.  Some in english and some gaelic.  Enjoy.

Easter's comin too!

Say what you want about Sinead's politics but man that woman can sing. I can't hear this song without choking up.

This is one that got me interested in Irish music in the first place - it used to be the background music on a Volkswagen commercial.

Not sure what the video has to do with the song, but the song is about all the Irish lads that have left Ireland and settled all over the world.  The chorus in English is  Oh the lads, the beautiful lads.

More Clannad

Some of their later music
Clannad - Ri Na Cruinnepowered by Aeva

and

some of their earlier music.  Sounds like two different bands.  On the one below, I didn't know you could bend a flute note.  -RP

Here's tonight's installment.  If you can make the lyrics out, its kind of funny.  Well, I thought so anyway.

OK, It's St Patricks day.  Not so warm here in Ireland and showery, can't get the Dragon out, every town choked up (parades).
Have a good one.

I was gonna do that today, FB....but it's so beautiful we may just have to ride instead and cook that tomorrow! Smiley

So I went in search of an Irish joke instead.

An Irishman, by the name of O'Malley proposed to his girl on St. Patrick's Day. He gave her a ring with a synthetic diamond. The excited young lass showed it to her father, a jeweller. He took one look at it and saw it wasn't real.
The young lass on learning it wasn't real returned to her future husband. She protested vehemently about his cheapness.

'It was in honour of St. Patrick's Day, 'he smiled.

'I gave you a sham rock.'
