Looks like I'm gonna be laid up longer than I planned. The steri strips finally came off yesterday, shortly afterwards the full length of the incision they removed the metal plate from pulled open all the way down to the remaining internal stitches. Because of the swelling it pulled open about 1/2" wide, and it appeared to be infected.

Got in to the Doc quickly, had surgery on it about 3 hours later. Think they basically gave it a DNC and sewed it up with stitches this time instead of staples. Home now, and for now, drugs are my friend.  tickedoff

Haven't found a way yet to keep the leg propped up while I'm on the PC so I've got to head back to the recliner and enjoy some boredom for now.  I'm sure I'll figure it out tomorrow when I'm more coherent.

You know what they say, "some days are like that".

Some days you are the statue , some days you are the pidgeon. Remain as the pidgeon until hunting season.
Hope you have a speedy recovery.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the good wishes and advice. If I've got to be laid up, right now while I've got a new grandson to spend time with is as good a time as any.

I won't deny though, the infection thing, in particular because it started off as a "bone procedure" worries me. They are planning on installing a device called a "wound vac" Monday. Not sure what it is but I'm reasonably sure I won't like it.

Enjoy the wind.

Frye, only one way to say it , HOLEY SH**. Looks like you have a little time to start kicking things. Wishing you a fast heal and W/O a lot of pain. Wife has a plate and 11 screws / pins in left ankle, looks like they will stay.  Cry She does not need to go thru what you have.

Its kinda like a suction unit. They put a tube in the wound and it drains all the infection into this machine. Comes out looking like honey. It should help heal it faster but it also could be on awhile. Depends how bad the infection is. We picked up a lady and she had one in her hip for 5 months, but she has other issues to. To be honest, they make me gag alot on runs! I have to cover it up.  Lips Sealed
