The Mrs. and I are in the beginning stages of planning another road trip.  We will be heading from Bangor Maine to Nashville Tenn. next month on the bike to attend the CMA event.  Any thoughts on routes, detours for fun or do not miss sights?

We have previously done a lot of New England rides, several Canadian destinations and a trip to North Carolina for the BRP and Dragons Tail, Myrtle Beach when it still welcomed bikers, and a trip to Daytona.

We will also be scouting for the job market and homes in the area as 1 more year (got to get the last of our 5 children out of the house and into college) and we will then be ready to relocate from the frozen tundra to a more hospitable climate.

We are considering NC, SC and TN for reloation if they still have room for 1 more well behaved Yankee.  Smiley  We welcome your thoughts and advice on that as well.  I am a Psychiatric RN and the Mrs. is a Social Worker.

Thanks a bunch...Sixguns (Rob)

You might consider riding the Natchez Trace from Nashville to Natchez, MS.  After that you can ride the River Road to New Orleans.

Get on Hwy 16 at St. Marys W VA on the Ohio River.

Follow it south all the way to the BRP and then follow that south to I 40 Asheville, NC. Then west on I 40 to Nashville

IMO Hwy 16 is one of the best roads in the SE. Some of the sections are challenging  cooldude

I live and work here in nashville, i am a maintenance electrician working construction at the moment,,,there is not a job to be had in this field around here,,
like joe says, the traffic sucks not because it is crowded but because these idiots around here have no clue how to drive, hence the nick name crashville..every one jacks the price up...
but on the other hand its only 2 1/2 hours away from great riding,,,,

I am a Psychiatric RN and the Mrs. is a Social Worker.

Lots of medical stuff here in Johnson City, TN. Not a bad place to
live..low crime rate, fairly low cost of living and we're smack dab
in the middle of some GREAT roads! 20 minutes to the Snake and
less than 2 hours to the Dragon or the Blue Ridge Parkway....not
to mention all the roads in between. Check us out!!

What are the taxes on a typical 3 bedroom 1500 Sq foot home in a nice neighborhood on an acre of land down there. Maybe with a 2 car/motorcycle garage?

Is housing and land expensive?

Love the area.

My humble abode is slightly larger than that but I don't...I mean "ain't" got a garage and
my taxes are about $700. You can find some pretty good deals on real estate, unless you're
looking for lakefront, which is always overpriced, IMHO.

This may add some distance to your trip..., but it is great riding.  Route 6 (East to West) across the northern half of PA.  You can pick up Rt. 6 near Port Jervis, NY and the "corner" of NY, NJ and PA.  The roads to get to Port Jervis across northern NJ and/or lower NY are good riding also.  If you make it far enough west on Rt. 6, to Wellsville, you can cruise around Pine Creek, The Grand Canyon of PA.  Great riding out that way.   Enjoy your trip!
