Finally burned up that skinny tire and got a fatty...(Darkside)

Bought a 2000 Interstate late last summer - upgraded from a 2005 VTX 1300 on the Darkside. Had a few close calls where I had a few emergency braking scenarios and really missed the car tire.

So first thing this year, I got the car tire mounted along with my spring maintenance.


Still need to replace front tire and front brake pads - looking for recommendations. Tried the Metz 880 on my VTX and was disappointed to see sidewall cracks after about 4 months. Also didn't like the vibration form the tread pattern in a lean.

Tire that was put on the bike when I bought it was a Dunlop - ?something? and it held up for @ 12k miles but I have heard some bad things about Dunlop as well. Problem is that I liked the original Dunlop but can't remember the specific model.

Hopefully a few of the Darksiders will chime in with a few of their favorite tires.

I run Avon on the front.  Had a VenomR, just went with a RoadRider rear tire .  We'll see how it does

I run an Avon Cobra and really like it.  I will buy another when this one wears out.

for the money, and the miles i have hear of others getting (6-7k) and the fact that most people i have heard having them said they felt just as good as the high priced tires that get the same mileage.

I have not decided if im going double dark or get just another front tire...

I've used a Shinko front and rear on my ST1300 and am very happy with them in the dry or wet.

Front gets about 10,500 miles and the rear about 9,000 miles. Note that these are hard miles in the bendy N GA mountains.

Just put a new Dunlop D404 on to replace the old(identical) D204(?)  Same size, tread, ratings, etc.
