For those of you still on the fence about this-get your colonoscopy NOW. If you are in your mid forties or older and have not had this procedure get er done. Other than 12-14 hours without food and getting yourself cleaned out before the procedure-you won't even know you had it. A lot of insurance pays for this and in my case the copay at the V A makes price a non issue. How much are you worth to your family?? I can not stress this enough. Early detection is the key to whipping the ass of this disease. A good result usually means 5 years to the next procedure. My ex brother in law goes in every other year. He has non cancerous polyps. NO MORE EXCUSES. uglystupid2 Get your selves signed up for this procedure. RIDE SAFE.

My grandfather and 2 uncles died of colon cancer.  I have had one every five years since 45y/o.  I must say the evac solution has gotten easier to swallow considering what it used to taste like.

Are you talking to me? Okay, I'm gonna' do it. I've been arguing with my doc, but no more. Whenever I feel any discomfort or inconvenience I'll remember LaserPat and just suck it up. Consider it done.

I have heard all kinds of reasons to not get the procedure done.

I've had one already and I'm due for another one.  It's really no big deal.  Go that morning, go home that afternoon.

I had one done at age 50 and another one done at age 55. Will have one done at age 60 and so on. It really is no big deal. If you do have cancer you want them to find it early on. Don't wait until it's too late.    uglystupid2

Had my first a year ago, at age 56.  Clean.

Sitting on the pot was the worst part.  Stuff did not even taste too bad.  People tell me it used to taste terrible.

If you have been putting it off, go get it for Pat's sake.

after having four uncles die of colon cancer i went in for a test at age 40.  nothing wrong, nothing found.  back then it was dirt cheap, only $20 for the office visit, now it'd cost me a "sh*t load" of money!!  Grin  (humor is good, even if it's sick....)

it's just like women getting a mami-gram, every afternoon talk TV show tells women to get one, but you never hear those same talk TV shows say that prostate cancer is more comen than breast cancer and that more men die from prostate cancer then women die from breast cancer. (some years, others it's neck-n-neck on deaths)

sure we're "MEN" anything going up or poopers is "gay".  well, get over it, stop being so, so, (heck i don't know what i'd call yeah, silly, hows that....).  women are much more use to getting thier privates poked, prodded, spread, and examined, us guys need to get over it.  to be honest, i don't like it when i get checked for a hurnia (you know, grabs the twins then tells me to caugh), or when they check for testicular cancer!  (i'm quite sensitive down there)

i'm sure someone will be "offended" over my graphic descriptions, but guys, you ever listen in on a womans conversation?  WOW!!  there's some graphics going on there!!

all in all, i'm just saying, YOU HAVE TO BE AWARE OF THESE THINGS, THE MEDIA WILL NOT TELL YOU TO GET TESTED AS OFTEN AS YOU NEED TO BE!!  Just Do It!!

Saved my life for sure. Had mine at 50 and they found an aggressive cancer. Had I gone in 5 years earlier I might have avoided major surgery, but the surgery got it before it spread and saved me. That was June of 2004 and I'm still here.

Don't die of embarrassment. Everybody I ever met has a colon and they all need looked into once in a while.

Agree...JUST DO IT !!!  AND, as you all know, this applies to BOTH men AND woman.
I've had 3-4 over the years and they are making the "preparation" easier and easier to   accomplish.....still not perfect  but what is???  The actual "procedure" is a piece of cake....usually takes about 20 minutes or less and you'll never know what happened with the use of the latest and greatest drugs.  The benefits outweigh any discomfort or embarassment by an unmeasurable amount.

In my case they found one polyp during a syg exam.  This turned into a colonoscopy to remove the one polyp and search for possible others not detected during the syg exam.  One year later a follow-up colonoscopy to check for new ones - none found.  Another colonoscopy a year later with none found.   This put me on the "5 year plan".  5 years later another clean  report.  5 years after that another clean report.  Doctor said I could switch to a "10 year plan" IF I wanted....I haven't made that decision yet but will probably stick with the "5 year plan".  It is not known how long I had the original polyp....could have been one year or 50...only way to know would have been earlier exams.

Sorry this is so long but THIS IS IMPORTANT and needs to get done.
