problem with the u.s.p.s. seems they have no problem taking my money for an item to be shipped and not delivering it. their attitude is o-well. since when is it wrong to expect a business and or individuals to do their job correctly. from now on i will be asking for all items being shipped to me be either fedex or ups.i am done with the governmental offices

What did you lose big fella?
I certainly prefer UPS and Fed-Ex but USPS is a lot cheaper. You should expect less for the cheaper cost.

As a longtime postal employee let me say I'm sorry you had a problem. I would ask you to remember that we are NOT a governmental office, but a self-sufficient, constitutionally mandated service. Your tax dollars never touch postal hands. If there's anything I can help you with, feel free to pm or e-mail me. I can give you contact info on who to call to get something done and advice on how to ship stuff. Please remember we handle a LOT more stuff than those others and we are cheaper by far.

Then why does the US Congess have to keep passing bills to send more money to you? No flame, just wondering. MP

I have a relative who works for the USPS and can attest to this as well. The PROBLEM is........It's not run as a business, nor is it run to make a profit. Simple as that.

I will add my 2 cents. I have ordered a lot of things from amazon, won more than a few auctions on ebay, and the only entity I have had issues with was UPS. USPS, and fedex both have been flawless. UPS has only had two problems, and I still ended up getting my items. All of them perform very well, imho, when you look at the amount of packages they handle/versus the issues they have. Maybe I am just really lucky in that regard.

Just for comparison's sake, when I had my Valk delivered to me last year, the previous owner sent the registration and key ahead via UPS and they threw the package in a neighbor's driveway down the street so I had no key when Valky arrived. Luckily my neighbor found it the next day and got it to me. The sender got their money back at least.
Anyway, hope you get your package soon. Steve

On another note, most people do not realize that both UPS & FexEx use the USPS. Unless you use overnight service with FexEx, your package will likely pass through a postal workers hands at some point. You just get to pay UPS/FedEx to put in their hands. In addition, percentage-wise, USPS has far fewer problems than the others. Just sayin'

Sometimes we have to have a block party to get our mail..the postal woman seems to have hers set up if she misses one box the rest are all off and we have to walk to each others door to get our mail..

I should note that I worked for UPS in my early 20's and found it to be a very good outfit and experience.
I have had less problems with UPS then the other 2. But then again, I really can't say any have ever given me major problems. I find FedEx to be the relatively more unprofessional and incompetent of the 3. USPS gets you your stuff but sometimes there are glitches, such as overnight doesn't mean you will actually get it overnight.
I think UPS has the best system of tracking your stuff from shipper to your door; the obsessive/compulsive in me likes that.

Other than being slooooooow, I haven't had any problems with USPS. Hopefully they'll stick around, just think where Fed Ex and UPS's rates would go if they went bellyup.

maybe because they cant set rates without approval?
they can't build a P.O. without approval, set rates, curtail saturday delivery...... I used to laugh at the former mayor of Bend OR who claimed a couple of times that "he" negotiated a new post office for the city. yeah right!

I think part of it depends on the individual post office. At one time, the PO managed to not deliver approximately 30% of my mail, coming or going. I rented a Post Office box in January, they opened it in April, then closed it again when I said I didn't think I should pay the renewal until APRIL - a year's SERVICE.
I was at my vet's office, about 20 miles from home. It was afternoon, they had outgoing mail. I asked if they'd like me to take it and drop it at the PO. They refused, citing experience with my PO. So it wasn't just me.
My Dad always said they distributed mail, not delivered it. We used to get together regularly with neighbors to transfer mail to the rightful person.
Now I'm blessed with a fabulous letter carrier. If I'd grown up with carriers like her, I'd be the POs biggest fan!!
