The Honda manual lists the Keihin Carburetors fitted to the Valkyrie as VPKOJ. I have contacted Sudco and they are unable to identify this number. Does anyone know if there is another identification number.

Look on the carb itself, there's an ID on them....forget where just now but look in the manual and it tells you where to look. What is it you're needing from Sudco? If it's jets, you don't need the carb ID if you know what to look for. Just let us know on here and we'll fill you in.

There are 3 different carburetor numbers, if I recall correctly, depending on the year and model[needles and springs].. But, as far as I know, they are virtually the same and the parts will interchange..

Thanks for your help. I am looking for both slow and main jets.

Frankly, I'd leave the main jets alone unless you're doing some other work to the engine/exhaust. The slow jets....different story. If you're after #38's to replace the OEM #35's, all you need to tell them is you want #38's for the Valk carbs, order #019-006. An invoice just last month for that is in front of me; $28.02 plus $9.93 s/h. That's just for six #38 slow jets.

There are 6 different carb numbers. 1997 model for 49 states - VPKOA, after '97 for 49 states - VPKOJ, model for Interstates in 49 states - VPK1B, 1997 model for California - BPKOB, after '97 for California - VPKOK, AND Inteerstate model for California - VPK1C. These are all about the same except for minor differences. They all use the same slow jets and same main jets.
When I was working on my carbs, I just called sudco and told them I wanted jets for a Valkyrie and they sent the correct jets. I never mentioned numbers except for the jet sizes I wanted.

When I called Sudco they didn't know what a Valkyrie was. They may have had trouble with my Australian Accent. I will try again. Thanks for your help.

That is probably what you have however, since you are in Australia, it would be good to be sure before you order jets. Some non USA Valks use much smaller main jets and also use a more restricted air box. The following link will help you with learning just which version you have. http://www.valkyrienorway.com/MODEL%20DIFFERENCES.htmlMaybe I just lucked out and talked to a more informed person when I called Sudco. I hope it works for you the next time you call. By the way, the part number on my invoice for the #38 slow jets is #019-006 same as John Schmidt said. Bigwolf

Easy enough to use a wire drill (or reamer) with a hand holder to make the jets larger!

There are more model numbers than that, that is just the State side carbs. There are also different jets and needles used around the world. If you are looking in Australia for jets, Show and Go have them. A little pricy but. I now have fairly good collection of jets an maybe able to help out. I am in Perth. Cheers Steve

Thanks Steve The slow jets in Australia seem to be the same as the US the Australian Mains are #78 and the US Mains are #100 . Must be fuel octane rating? I have some ordered from Sudco I will see how they work out.

Not octane rating, the Aussie units are tuned a little different. Different set up with the exhausts and foam pad in the intake on the air box. If you remove the pad you will need 100 mains in there. Any airbox modification will cause your exact symptom, will not rev above a certain level. Which State are you in? Will be travelling to Mildura next week for the Ulyssess AGM Cheers Steve

78's are standard Aus fitment, K&N should not be a problem unless it has been over oiled. Do you still have the foam pad in the top cover, it is in the intake vent? Have you tried pulling the "choke" on when you hit 3500? this will richen the intake charge. If nothing happens it may not be fuel that is the problem. Mackay is just a little further than I am travelling this time so can not offer personal assistance. The only person I know in that area drag races Kwackas and has not had any Valk experience. I will help as best as I can. Cheers Steve
